Nailing a tossup on "Backdoor Sluts 9" then 30'ing the subsequent bonus on New Orleans rappers (Big Tymers, Juvenile, Mystikal).
Also, I've never missed a tossup on the sport seen in my avatar.
As for REAL shame, helping to 30 a physical economics bonus which required team members to mimic graphs.

A few weeks ago, we were practicing off the Stanford archive, and I got Louis XVI from "Unfortunately, the times did not call for a person of my social standing."

You might want to edit these out-- they're answers in NAQT packets that may not have finished their circulation.Ford08 wrote:(Some Embarassing Answers)

The question was "Who sang "Travelin' Thru" at the 2006 (I think) Academy Awards?" Long pause....I answer "Dolly Parton", and it was correct. I think I read that in the Chicago Tribune or something. It's really sad that I remembered that.

Why is that sad? Granted, she's not the best music artist in the world, but I can think of quite a few more that are worse rather then better than her.ElizabethYork wrote:The question was "Who sang "Travelin' Thru" at the 2006 (I think) Academy Awards?" I once got a question off: "In 1971, he led the majors with 48 homers."

That's not really that shame-worthy. I mean, you might know that stat, Stargell might be your favorite player, etc.Golden Tiger 86 wrote:I once got a question off: "In 1971, he led the majors with 48 homers."

At TRASHionals, I got a tossup on Devin Hester based on the first clue that he was co-MVP of the 2004 Peach Bowl, a fact that might be alright if I were (shudder) a Miami fan, but instead the explanation is that I was at that game.
Now, getting questions on various types or titles or people associated with pornography can bring shame, but knowing an athlete? Not that shameful.

At our trash tournament last year, an all-guy team from Vermilion HS managed to power "Mall Madness" and then 30 the bonus on "Dream Phone." Their male coach sat in the back shaking his head in shame.

This morning on an old A-set I 30'd a bonus on "White and Nerdy". The hard part was identifying the "gentrified sport" they were playing in the music video.

At Penn Bowl this year, I answered a tossup on "White and Nerdy" on the first clue - that the version of the Schrodinger Wave Equation mistakenly has Planck's constant instead of Dirac's constant (h instead of h-bar). I'm not sure if Matt (Weiner, who was reading that round) had reached the pronoun yet.AlphaQuizBowler wrote:This morning on an old A-set I 30'd a bonus on "White and Nerdy". At Buzzerpalooza, we were playing a moderator's lunch round and this picture came up:

What do you think it is? About 10-15 words in the question I correctly buzzed in with "(Baby) Kangaroo."

How does that make you hang your head in shame? That's a stock anatomy bonus on something that comes up all the time in quizbowl and that you should be learning in either biology or A & P.
