Any particular reason you're doing ASCN format?

Ward Melville had better be there...
Also, any chance of taking personal stats as well? I really want to know how my former teamates are doing as individuals, and I know you had like 3 officials in each room when I played the last 3 years.

You can count New Rochelle in, but on one condition:

Will there be computational math/science questions?

This is dogmatically wrong-headed. By only attending tournaments with computation questions, you're depriving yourself, and possibly your teammates, if you have any kind of a leadership role on your team, of a valuable and fun playing and learning experience. If the only reason you attend quiz bowl tournaments is to buzz in on math computation, wouldn't you be better served by joining a math team? Or would you not enjoy that either, as I hear in math competitions one actually encounters problems that one has not seen umpteen times before? You are not going to change the direction that quiz bowl is taking with your valiant proletarian protest against the capitalist pig-dog oppressors of HSAPQ. You might as well try to enjoy yourself.

Are those the only questions you enjoy? You said at HFT and after that you liked the hard science. Perhaps this tournament will have hard science. You might like it.

Hi Teams

Right now we have a registration for around 60 teams; the field listed below. As of right now, we are still missing some of the schools who had expressed interest in our tournament on this blog or who have previously attended - (Kellenberg, Seton Hall, New Rochelle, Bergen, etc.). If you're interested in coming, please e-mail [email protected] ASAP with the number of teams and buzzers you plan to bring, as well as basic contact info. (Coach's name, school phone number, fax number would be appreciated.)

We're looking forward to a successful tournament on January 10th.

Sincerely,

If you need a registration from Kellenberg, Bro.Nigel will have to send it to you, but I can confirm Kellenberg is planning on attending with 3-5 teams depending on conflicts with a Science Olympiad Invitational and whether or not I can get 20 people organized in the next 2 weeks.

Bloomfield coming looks up in the air at the moment, at least with 2 teams. May or not pile into a car and bring one team. What is the policy on inclement weather? Will we be able to get our registration back if unable to attend due to weather?

Re: HSW Invitational @ HS West POSTPONED TO JANUARY 24, 2009

Post by hswquizbowl » Fri Jan 09, 2009 3:22 pm

***IMPORTANT: READ THE FOLLOWING

The Half Hollow Hills High School West Invitational Quiz Bowl Tournament that was scheduled for January 10, 2009 has been POSTPONED to JANUARY 24, 2009, due to snow that is expected in the region.

All teams that have previously registered (as well as other teams) are invited to attend; please just update with team name and buzzers.

It should be noted that we rewrote our questions to make them pyramidal, which is in contrast to previous years.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope to see you all on the 24th.

Sincerely,
The Brainstormers of Half Hollow Hills High School West

I would just like to point out that January 24th is an SAT date and some school may have students who had planned to attend on their behalf, but may not be able to becasue of conflicts with having registered to take the SAT.
