Hey:

So right now, the UIUC High School Solo is currently paired with the NAQT State Tournament. After taking a second look at the schedule, I noticed that the only thing going on February 7th is Science Bowl Regionals, and I am also aware that the Team Illinois tryouts are the next day. My question is this: would either of these potential conflicts dissuade you from making the trek to Champaign-Urbana?

Also, at New Trier's Solo, an idea was being tossed around of having some of the top individuals play one game against Mike Sorice. Would people be up for this? I'd add a poll, but I'd prefer to dedicate it to the more pressing issue.

Even if we don't send a team to Science Bowl and the TI tryouts fall through, our team might still be doing something on that day. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't come all the way to Chambana just for the Solo.

I absolutely love the idea of playing against Mike Sorice. How exactly were you imagining the logistics of that?

Yes....Loyola and Auburn are thinking of hosting a tournament on Feb 7. And, my orig conversation with Trygve et al. was that NAQT State would be paired with Solo up here at Fenton so that we would get more teams attending State and hopefully your Solo as well. Why not leave it on March 7?

I knew nothing of the planning between Loyola and Auburn for February 7th. If I had, I would have taken that into consideration. I did originally agree to hold it on March 7th. However, when looking at the schedule on ihssbca.org, I only saw Science Bowl and Team Illinois tryouts that weekend, and wanted a better date.

No, that wasn't my point....Loyola and Auburn only recently decided to host a tournament on February 7; but the planning for March 7 included the solo up here, because we thought if we hosted NAQT State here, we would get more of the competitive teams and you would get more people for Solo as well.
