REGISTRATION AND FEES:
-The fee structure is as follows:
Base fee: $60 for the first team, $50 for each additional team. There is no limit to the number of teams who can attend from one school.
Buzzer discount: $10 off school's total fee for one fully functional system, $5 off for each additional system (control box and eight activators all work).

Staff discount: $10 off school's total fee. This could be a coach, parent, student who is not playing, etc. Team-provided staffers will keep score for various games not involving the team with which they are affiliated. Volunteer staffers must stay through all the games (except finals) in order to receive credit for their school. There is no limit to the number of staffers you can bring.

Minimum fee: $40 per team

METHOD OF PAYMENT: We will accept payment on the day of the tournament by cash or check, and we will provide receipts on site. Please contact me as soon as possible if other methods of payment are necessary so that we can make appropriate arrangements. Checks should be made payable to the “Academic Team at USC.”

TEAM & ROSTER SIZE: There may be a maximum of six players on one team's roster, though only four may play at one time. There are two substitution opportunities in each game. Each player may appear on only one team's roster throughout the day—no switching from the B team to the A team, etc. Teams may also play shorthanded with only three players. Teams consisting of fewer than three players may not play without my express prior permission.

FOOD: We will provide assorted donuts, bagels, juice, and milk the morning of the tournament. Lunch will not be provided. There are a large number of eateries on and around campus, and we will provide teams with a food guide.

Please e-mail me if you have any further questions. We aim to put on a great event for all teams who attend.

In the next few days, we will be mailing teams across the state information on this tournament. The mailing will include a cover letter and a copy of the general announcement that can be found at the top of this thread. Although we are sending invites to every team that has expressed interest in this thread as well as invites to numerous other teams we think might be interested, please note that this is not an invitational tournament; anyone can register even if you haven't received an invite. Also note that you can register simply by emailing me at [email protected] . Just put "registration" in the subject line and tell me how many teams, buzzers, and volunteers you plan on bringing.

With less than a week to go, we have 13 teams signed up. If 1 more team signs up, I will cap the field at 14 teams.

I'm contacting registered teams in the next day or two with the tournament details once more. Once again, registration will be from 8 to 9 in the Welsh Humanities Classroom Building, and we will meet in room 202. If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me.

Congratulations to Southside A, who went undefeated in the first ever USC Spring Tournament. Mudkip finished 2nd. I'll post the stats soon, but I'm looking over a few things that need to be corrected. Thanks everyone for coming to our tournament; we hope you all had a good time. I look forward to hosting more tournaments at USC in the future.

Congratulations once again to Southside A for their win in the first ever USC Spring Tournament. In second place was Mudkip, followed by Irmo and Dorman A. The top 8 individual scorers were as follows: Wes (Mudkip), Ming Lin (Southside A), Vivek (Irmo), Amit (Southside B), Akshay (Southside C), Victoria (Mudkip), Azissa (Dorman A), and Sidney (Spartanburg). Full stats are posted here. http://results.scobo.net/SQBS.aspx?org= ... =standings Sorry for the delay, but I had to correct a few errors that went unnoticed by me at the tournament site.

I would like to thank all teams for coming to this event. It was a true pleasure hosting so many great teams, and I hope that we can host more tournaments at USC in the near future. Special thanks to the tournament staff, the coaches, and to Matt Weiner for answering a number of my tournament hosting-related questions.

These weren't really Dorman's A, B, and C teams, were they? The bonus conversion is quite low for them. They attended VCU on the same day... that's pretty great for their school that they came up with 5 teams to attend two tournaments 400 miles from one another on the same date. They did a pretty nice job considering.

Yeah, they weren't the actual Dorman A and B teams, who were up at VCU. But the A team at our event was quite good, and the B and C teams were composed of mainly very young players, some of whom were from the 9th grade academy at DHS, I believe.

Dorman's Freshman Campus is certainly no academy, but everyone on the B & C (regular D & E) teams is a freshman (At least, I know they aren't sophomores, juniors or seniors...).
