2/19 and 3/6 won't work for the Blair kids. School event and It's Ac taping, respectively.
So 3/5 instead of 3/6. Sounds fine-I only put 3/6 down in case it was better for a lot of people than 3/5 for whatever reason.

Hey, good to see someone from Blair on the board; I graduated from the Magnet in '04. When do you all practice? I might want to stop by.

Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00-4:00 in Room 215. You should probably check our calendar (http://itsac.mbhs.edu/calendar.html) to make sure we're not off at some tournament.

Because of schedule changes, turns out we (or at least I) will be there on 2/19.

Tryouts are still on for this Friday, 5-8 PM, in Jimenez 1124. I'm sorry to hear that Blair has a conflict, but missing a tryout certainly won't inherently exclude anyone.

This happened. UMD people read and kept stats. Presumably one of them will announce who they think the team ought to be.

After consultation with the esteemed Chris Ray, the six people we think should represent team Maryland are, in no particular order, Douglass Graebner, Raynell Cooper, Isaac Hirsch, Jeremy Fallick, Mario Choi, and Kuo Kai. We'd like to thank everyone who came to tryouts, especially all the underclassmen that we hope to see again next year (if in fact, HSAPQ does this again and UMD is involved in the team Maryland decision process).

Presumably the next step is to make sure you guys can come, and then submit the team bit.

So the index page for hsapq says that:
All bids must be received by 5 PM Pacific time on Thursday, March 18. Selected teams will receive notification of their bid acceptance no later than Thursday, April 1, on which date a sample packet representative of the distribution, length, and difficulty of the tournament will be posted on this website. Official bids should be e-mailed to the tournament director at [email protected] with the subject line "NASAT Bid - [your state]" and contain the name, year in school, and school affiliation of each team member, as well as the name and school affiliation, if any, of the head coach or chaperone. Additional details about each player's quizbowl-related accomplishments and areas of specialization are encouraged, but not necessary.
Hopefully the UMD people will have something by 8 PM Thursday?

My graduation is the next day. Since I probably don't need to do anything besides look kind of alert and am assuming that I can get back into DC the evening of the 13, this should be no obstacle.

Uhh, so are the UMD people gonna be handling the bid? Also, when does the team bit need to be submitted?

I suppose they will be handling the bid. Also,as per HSAPQ's new announcment, a bid by 18th of March is preferred but bids afterwards will be accepted on a rolling basis. I'd like to see a bid in by Friday, though.

Well the bid is sort of just a formality given that there's not exactly a shadow team maryland floating around. My personal involvement is going to be severely limited from this point as I shift my focus onto the NSC full-time, but SteveJon will presumably be emailing you to discuss what (if any) involvement we'll have going forward.

I foresee no obstacles to me going, but the sooner I can have more details (e.g. when we'd leave and return) the better.

If there's a spot open, I wouldn't mind going but not playing besides maybe against alaska or wyoming and getting to put top 3 in national championship in a college resume, etc.

As long as you don't say Montana.

I concur that Montana is a fine state. Will your team be at NSC?

We should probably have a meeting to work out the logistics and UMD's involvment. Does tomorrow night in the IRC sound good?

So due to widespread chatroom-related confusion, I'm not sure this meeting happened. Can people make a meeting at the same time tomorrow in a channel whose name is posted in this thread?
