...Are you sure you didn't post the power poll from the Illinois thread? This looks to go a long way towards determining early dominance in the state.

It's the real deal, and probably the final field give or take a few teams.

Are we looking to get PACE certified or whatever? That'd probably be nice, given the quality of teams that will be there.

I am awaiting word from Carbondale whether or not they will bring a B team, and have two teams on the wait list already. Did you wantg to add Barrington to the wait list?

I know you said you expanded the field to 24 teams, so if you could give a field update, that'd be nice.

To anyone interested:

During lunch, there may be a room where some sports questions may be read by me. No cost, just show up. If demand is sufficient, I may need to employ another reader.

Are there several significant people missing this due to PSAT?

Stevenson will be missing Zach for the whole tournament and another starter who will be there only for the playoffs(if we make it that far).

If you hear any terrible questions that need to be fixed, be sure to note which round it's in when you email me.

Sooooo what's going on at this tournament.

I've heard that:
- Barrington A went 2-3 in the morning rounds, and 2-3 in the afternoon.
- Barrington B went 0-5 in the morning, and 4-1 in the afternoon.
- IMSA didn't show at the appointed time.
- The questions ranged wildly in difficulty of answer space.
- There was at least one bonus part 3 where the answer had been given in part 1.

I'll be interested in hearing more from tournament participants.

Edit: Fixed records

Since nobody actually in attendance is talking, Carbondale defeated St. Ignatius in the final.

One mistake I made when preparing to write this set was in ordering the TU answers in each subdistribution by round from easy to hard.
My fault for the repeated bonus part. If you know which round it is in, I'll fix it for the later mirrors.

Rumor has it that we finished 9-1, which got us 7th place. I wasn't there, though, so I could be wrong.

Wifi access is apparently scarce at Loyola - everyone's surprised that I have access.

1st: Carbondale, in 1 game of an advantaged final over St. Ignatius
2nd: St. Ignatius, made the advantaged final on PPB tiebreaker over Loyola A and Lisle A
3rd: Loyola , in 3rd place match against Lisle
4th: Lisle
5th: Stevenson
6th: Culver
Consolation brackets
7th: New Trier

That's all I remember - stats are compiled and will be posted at some point.

Congrats to Carbondale. It sounds like they're gonna be a real force. I really wanna see their scoring distribution.

I'm also really interested in seeing how much scoring Ignatius was getting aside from Deveau.

Thanks to everyone for their participation in Ultima today, Trashtastrophe too (Dan and Jeff will probably have more to say about that). I thought the tournaments ran smoothly (if a wee bit late  ), and there were some great matches. A special thanks to all of my moderators; we couldn't have done it without you.

Glad to hear things went well. Is there a link to a stats page yet?

Yeah, cause he's a jerk who wouldn't let me use Laird's computer and post it to scobo.net so that everybody could see it like 6 hrs ago.

Mr. Riley ran a great tournament, and I really enjoyed moderating.

Statistics.

Carbondale beat St. Ignatius in the first game of an advantaged final to take the championship. Loyola A beat Lisle A for third place.

Okay, here are stats which have been procured after a few screwups and some swearing.

Prelims
Playoffs
Combined

Edit to add all three.

So yeah. Carbondale, among Jeremiah, Ben, and occasionally Sofia, are mad legit. As are Loyola, who are still really solid on literature and the like. I'm sure their depth and bredth will only get better as the year goes on. Stevenson was good even without Blumenfeld. I imagine he overlaps quite a bit with the rest of his team, but still, they'll be redonkulous with him. Who knows about Auburn until they start playing.

Edit: Literacy

I'm sad that I didn't get to see any of these teams yet (except for Loyola who have me a solid thrashinghttps://netfiles.uiuc.edu/dtaylor4/2009 ... il.html#t8 at Earlybird). I intended to watch the final but had to deal with Trashtastrope stuff. But, yeah, C-Dale is back and swingin' (I'm glad to see that Ben and Jeremiah have a little support), and so is New Trier to a lesser extent.

One more off-topic post in this thread and stuff starts to happen.

I'm glad to see we're mad legit. I'll put that on my college apps. But yeah, we've got plenty of strong seniors besides Jeremiah. Not present at the tournament was Mrinalini, who usually starts for us. She, along with Sofia, is handling a lot of the science this year.
