Yeah we managed to get votes in last season's midseason poll...somehow. It's really hard to figure out which teams are the best when your comparing teams that haven't played each other. This is probably the most effective method unless something akin to College Football's computers comes to fruition (i.e. something that factors in more than just record and strength of schedule) but I don't know if something like that would be all that effective.
It's pretty much impossible to determine who's better than who without them playing each other. Even comparing stats on the same question set is pretty much useless, because you really can't factor in strength of competition.

Exactly. PPB is the only thing that comes even CLOSE to being used for comparison, and that has to be on the same set. Then you have to figure out whether or not the team had all of their best players that day. Oh well. This is why we have national tournaments.

Will the specific Top 25 polls of each of the 17 voters be posted any time soon? It would be interesting to see the range of opinions coming from many who have witnessed these teams up close & personal.

Oops! I thought I had already done this!

Poll by Voter

the numbers are the points each voter gave that school. (25 for 1st, 24 for 2nd, etc)

1) What's up with the person only voting for 15 teams?

2a) What's up with Watson not voting in St. Anselm's in his entire top 25 at all?

2b) What's up with Ed Powers not voting in LASA in his entire top 25 at all?

3) "Cheeser Rodney"?

Also, aside from trying to explain why he left off St. Anselm's from the entire top 25 (when no one else left them out of their top 10 even), i would love to hear Watson explain why he thinks Dorman is better than Maggie Walker.

EDIT: And why Hoover, DCD, and Dunbar are better than Southside?!

Coach Chryz,

Ever hear of the notion that differences of opinion make for good 'horse races'---or something like that?

Actually, after I submitted my ballot, i realized that I might have left LASA off of my ballot---an egregious mistake, I thought. As fortune would have it, Fred Morlan emailed me about another matter----something about scores from the HHH West Invitational, I believe----and after answering him I asked if he could make the correction to my ballot that I wished to make---placing LASA 6th and moving everyone from 6 through 25 down one spot. I can see now this did not happen. Sooooo---let's BLAME FRED!!!!!!!!!

Fortunately, LASA received the respect it deserved from others and still made it to an elite position it certainly seems to have earend so far this year. But to answer your question---I originally had them 6th and then somehow failed to type this on my ballot. My mistake----Fred is officially off the hook---for now.

On the other hand---Inquiring minds want to know: How did you leave Alpharetta off of YOUR ballot? Ooops---but that's what makes for interesting debates before horse-races, is it not?

Hope to see you soon---there's still time for Prison Bowl, you know---Lily has been waiting for weeks to get the field to 24. Care to come up our way for what promises to be a great tournament? I bet Lily would love for 3 more teams to come---so, why not CR---or some other gifted team reading this post??

If you cannot, see you at the CRRB. Good luck until then.

It looks like the Noriega guy is just finishing up actively voting in this. Is there a way to lock Google spreadsheets to keep this from happening in the future?

No that was me filling in the rest of the ballot that somehow got wiped by copy and pasting in the doc.

A (FIXED    ) poll will be released later tonight once I have finished figuring out what all went wrong.

3/4 members of our A team (including myself) will be at a Mock Trial Competition on that day, which is why Caesar Rodney, despite our desire to attend, won't be able to make it to Prison Bowl at Hunter.

Trey,

Sorry you cannot be at Hunter, but good luck at your Mock Trial Competition.

As i am sure that you already suspect---especially if this Midseason Poll is any indicator---the competition at Hunter will be an enlightening one, to say the least.

They lost to Centennial, and Centennial has averaged a higher place in tournaments in Georgia this year. Plus, one-man teams, i think, all things equal, are inherently subject to that "one bad game" that can make them lose, contrary to teams with more balanced lineups.

This isn't actually true, as we haven't played Centennial this year. I'm guessing you misread the Brookwood stats; there was actually no 3 v. 4 consolation match. Centennial was given 3rd and us 4th based on seeds after prelims.

Coach Chryz,

Alpharetta put up 500+ ppg and 24+ ppb on the same HSAPQ Set used when our teams played at the U of Maryland in September---Set #8, I believe. These are stats that cannot be ignored---they compare well with another outstanding "1 man" team on the same set that you admire greatly---as do I---I speak of GDS A, of course. One man teams in theory can be vulnerable---but it depends on the one man, does it not? Who really wants to meet GDS in an important spot? And, my guess is, the same could be said for Alpharetta. The stats, at least, suggest this possibility, do you not think?

Tying State College and Maggie Walker is a move that needs to be called out for (ungrammatical cusses). I would like the next poll to force people to actually make a ranking and not perpetuate this nonsense where multiple teams can win.

In this case, I don't think it's so egregious. It shows that Graham is unsure of whether he should have put his own team or Maggie Walker in first place.

So? You pick one team for first and one for second, that's how polls work.
