How to Study for Computer Science

Post by Jesus vs. Dragons »

I was just wondering how one could go about this. Studying for literature, philosophy, history and seemingly every other category that comes up is a fairly simple process, but for a group of people with a nearly-blank slate, how should one go about studying for this?

You'll find a wealth of lecture notes online. Maybe go through a course?

Personally I'd explore writing some simple applications (follow a tutorial or something) and then see if your knowledge grows organically from that. Knowing how to do some simple programming will probably also be helpful in other areas of your life.

Well, the best and most obvious way is to take AP Computer Science, if your school offers it. If not, there are a lot of introductory level computer science textbooks out there which are fairly easy for someone new to the canon to understand. I recommend checking the library over paying for one.
