Michigan NAQT State Championship (4/17/10)

Post by Broad-tailed Grassbird »

Michigan State University’s Academic Competitions Club is proud to announce the Michigan NAQT state championship on April 17th, 2010. This tournament will be using NAQT invitational set IS-95. As of now the field size has not been determined, but we will likely be running a divisional round robin followed by a re-bracketed round robin. Expect approximately 10 games, though this obviously depends on the field. We will be taking 2 teams per school, with a waiting list for additional teams, that waiting list will be opened up on April 5th.

Tournament Fees:
First Team: $65
All subsequent teams $50
Working Buzzer set: -$10 per functional set
Distance Discount: -$10 per 100 miles (1-way), by Google maps or Mapquest, whichever is further
Minimum per team: $25

Please make checks payable to MSU Academic Competition Club and please pay upon arrival, or in advance. Please email us at cbowl AT msu DOT edu to register (even if you post on the forum, a registration email is requested), and state that you are registering for the NAQT state championship (as opposed to the March Madness Invitational).

Thanks,

Nalin Lalwani

We're taking one more team and then closing the field. First come first serve.

I'd like to give a shout out to Jason Jones for helping us out by moderating this morning (because we had some no-shows). Freshmen are unreliable, do not trust them.

Freshman showed up just now. Set his alarm to 7 PM, instead of 7 AM (and kept his phone off).

Trust me when I say this is not endemic to freshmen only. I've wanted to bitch-slap some people who show up late to work because of crap like this.

Through 3 rounds, half the teams have above 15 PPB, and only 3 have below 10 PPB. Strongest HS field from top to bottom I've seen (not surprised though as it is the state championship).

Detroit Country Day A won this, going undefeated through the prelims and the playoffs. Detroit Catholic Central A finished second only losing to DCD A. Novi finished third. Will post finished stats today.

Edit: Not getting done today. Tomorrow evening for sure.

Is it possible to at least let us know that you are nearly done or trying to get them done?

How many teams were present at this event? Has there been any sign of stats?

There were 22 teams present at this tournament. There were stats posted at the day of the tournament itself, but I haven't seen them online anywhere.

Hey, it would be awesome if we could get the stats for this tournament.

I don't have the papers on which the stats were posted as the day went, so only Nalin would be able to post the stats.
