Michael Moore Memorial Hybrid (May 1, 2010)- Athens, GA

On May 1, 2010, Cedar Shoals HS will be hosting the Michael Moore Memorial Hybrid Tournament*. This is our annual end of the year "open" tournament, meaning, COACHES CAN PLAY** as well!

The entry fee for this tournament is $60 per team. If you can bring a worker, that would help us out tremendously. Buzzers, of course, are always welcomed and expected.

Rounds will be of a "standard" nature (read: no bouncebacks, but with powers and negs). Prizes (books and other items of both academic and trash varieties- after all, this is a Hybrid) will be awarded and individual scoring prizes will be handed out as well.

Packets: We will are still looking for a medium level tournament (with some trash thrown in) to mirror for this event. If you wish to have us mirror your event, please contact us. We would prefer to use house written events.

Levels of teams- What makes this the fun year-end event it has become is the fact we have created three divisions of teams for this tournament. If the field remains small to medium sized, there is a chance all teams will play each other. However, winners from each division will be awarded based on their overall final position in the tournament. If not, we will create individual divisions and have everyone play within their groups with out crossing over.

Here are the divisions:
1- Amateur: Pretty much this is a team made up entirely of high school students (grades 9-12). Up to five (5) players per team with substitutions allowed during a round.
**2- Hybrid: These teams consist of a coach or another adult (no more than 2, up to four players altogether) playing alongside their students. More than two adults on a team with a high school student will move that team into "professional" status.
**3- Professional: These teams will consist of coaches playing alongside other coaches as well as college, "alumni" and other "open" teams. Only four people may play on a team in this division.
**These are the levels coaches can compete in.

Most likely format: 7 team 1xRR plus 4/3 PO (9-10 games) with winners in each division based on overall final finish among their own teams. If 8 teams 1xRR (7 games) possibly. We're still working out the details.
