What is NAQT's target difficulty for the Division I SCT in 2012? Is NAQT planning to address the recent increase in difficulty of the Division I set by reducing the difficulty to something more like SCT 2008 or ACF Regionals 2011, or by taking other measures?

We certainly intend to produce a set that is easier than the excessively-difficult DI SCT sets of recent years.

When will we know about a region 4 host? Is there going to be one?

Probably not because both Virginia Tech and Princeton are (relatively) close by. That being said, please contact us if you're a Region 4 school interested in hosting.

Region 3's page for the SCT last year hinted that it and Region 4 would run joint sites, like they did for College Bowl at least a couple of times: http://region3.acui.org/Region/03/programs/naqt.html

I'm creating a new team at Loyola University Chicago, and this was one of the tournaments that was suggested to me for the team to attend. My only question is how exactly do I enter the team in the tournament? Sorry for this dumb question, but I'm fairly new to actually running a team, let alone a college level team.

Sometime soon there will be a link to register here. (Note that online registration is already open for several SCT sites, but we're still waiting on details from a few of the hosts- including the site local to Loyola at the University of Chicago.)

To tag on to this post, is Ruby Vega actually the contact for the site? Her email address seems to indicate that she has a UIC account...

Region 9 (ISU) isn't too far away if no Region 11 mirror is held.

Kansas State will have to travel a long way if there is no region 11 mirror, and since the nearest ACF Regionals mirror is also in Illinois, we are either going to have to do a lot of driving (and fundraising to pay for the extra expenses) or make some tough decisions. If we have to choose between Sectionals and Regionals, I would personally prefer Sectionals, but we'll have to talk it over as a team.

The SCT set has been completed and shipped to the hosts this morning. I believe R. has been in touch with everyone via email, but if you're hosting SCT tomorrow and are having any trouble with your pdfs, please contact us immediately (sct [at] naqt.com).

I would like to thank my co-editors, Andy Watkins and Andrew Hart, for all of the time and effort they put into this year's SCT. Special thanks to all of the writers who contributed to completing the set over the last week.

The protest committee for the 2012 SCT will be: R. Robert Hentzel, Jeff Hoppes, Andy Watkins, Andrew Hart, and Seth Teitler.

For support tomorrow (on protests or about anything else related to SCT play), hosts can contact us by phone or by email (1-888-411-6278; sct (at) naqt.com). I will also be around in #quizbowl if anyone would like to contact me there (eg, if the phone line is busy with a protest at another site).
