ANNOUNCEMENT: MUT Mirror at Valencia (4/21/12)
Valencia College will host a mirror of the Minnesota Undergrad Tournament on Saturday, April 21. As there are mirrors at Tulane and South Carolina, I want to emphasize that this mirror will primarily cater to CC teams, though of course any eligible teams can participate.
Details:
--$75 flat rate for all teams.
--Play in Bldg. 9 on West Campus
--Registration starting at 9:30 am
--Matches will begin at 10:15
Reply here or e-mail me at cborglum at valenciacollege dot edu to register.
Edit: I've upped the flat registration fee to $75 to allow for a more sumptuous spread of food for competitors, as well as to take the mods out for a bite to eat afterward. I figure it's still pretty reasonable.
FIELD UPDATES:
Valencia (3)
Mercer (1)
Seminole (2)
Lake Sumter (2)
Central Florida College (2)
UCF (3)
Brevard
Chipola (2)
State College of FL (aka Manatee)
South Florida CC (2)
Florida (2)
Florida College at Jacksonville
North Florida

Was going to sign up as a spoiler (in spite of much rustiness), but I think you've already decided I'm moderating for this.

I don't see anything in the MUT master thread about eligibility, but a lot of Florida CCs have indicated they'll come to this, so let's keep it to teams of undergraduate players only.

I just posted something about eligibility, for the record.

Bumping this: new field updates.
PS--Florida Gators, somebody actually confirm you're coming, as you should/must.

Florida are coming. We're still lining up the coffee spoons to measure how many teams we'll be bringing though so stay tuned.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: MUT Mirror at Valencia (4/21/12)
The Kelson Brothers Death Showdown took place in the finals of this tournament, with Paul Kelson (ie, Chipola Blue) defeating older brother Dallin Kelson and two teammates (ie, UF A) by 65 points, though UF had led by over 100 at halftime. UCF got third. I think a fun time was had by all.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: MUT Mirror at Valencia (4/21/12)
Thanks, Stan!
The empty brackets in the stats above are from the prelims; I had our SQBS star do combined stats. We had four brackets of six teams for prelims, then rebracketed into four playoff brackets. Everyone agreed on not playing another game between the Kelsons after they played in Round 10, so that was that.
Looking forward to the discussion when the set is cleared; I'll just say now that I personally really enjoyed the Mike Cheynity of a lot of the history and thought the set overall was pitch perfect in difficulty for an undergrad field of varying abilities and experience, as we had.
