Brown will be hosting a delayed mirror of U Mich's QUARK tournament on Saturday, December 1, 2012. The tournament will be held in J. Walter Wilson (NOT Wilson Hall). Registration will begin at 8:30, and we'll aim to start the tournament around 9:15. To register, please email me: my first name at brown dot edu.

Fees and discounts:
Base fee: $100 per team.
Buzzer systems: -$10 per working buzzer system. We are very short on buzzers; please bring some!
Staffers: -$10 each.
Laptops: -$5 each.
Travel: -$10 per 200 miles traveled. -$10 for travelling over 200 miles (one way), -$20 for travelling over 400 miles, etc.

Field is capped at 16 for now.

Sorry this is getting posted so late; please contact me if you'll have trouble paying on time as a result.

Huzzah!

Yale is expressing interest. I'd be surprised if we didn't bring 2 to 3 teams, and I'll email once numbers are more set. (Just to make sure I'm reading right: Does "[email protected]", no last name, redirect to your email too?)

EDIT: Let's say 2 teams for now.

So we'll be at 1 or 2 teams, probably 1 because David's busy and Graham might be busy too.

EDIT: Not sure why I quoted Matt Jackson there.

I think NYU will be sending two teams (or maybe more) to this...

Matt (Yale Up) cleared the field.

EDIT: For some reason some of the columns on the individual detail page are shifted over by one (which I've heard of happening to other users of SQBS for Mac). Advice on fixing the issue would be appreciated, but it's understandable as it is.

Looks like:

Code: Select all

sed -i '/
/d' <team details filename>
sed -i '/
/d' <individual detail filename>
should do the trick. (in a terminal. pretty sure sed comes with OS X, but maybe not)

edit: actually it looks like OS X's sed is a bit different and it should be sed -i '' -e '/
/d' <filenames above>

edit2: actually, it looks like the Team Details file is fubared in multiple ways, so the above won't fix the shifted bottom row.

People played Eyes that Do Not See after the tournament. We would've played during lunch, but we spent all of lunch waiting for the file to download because nobody had downloaded it ahead of time. (Suggestion to Mike Bentley: maybe separate out the individual PPTs rather than [or in addition to] having a single large archive?)

Stats:

Code: Select all

                                         (15/10/-5)
Stephen Liu - 300 pts over 105 TUs (18/10/14)
Basil Smitham - 150 pts over 105 TUs ( 9/ 9/15)
Guy Tabachnick - 110 pts over 105 TUs ( 4/10/10)
Aidan Mehigan - 70 pts over 35 TUs ( 3/ 5/ 5)
Lloyd Sy - 65 pts over 105 TUs ( 1/ 6/ 2)
Dan from Brown - 45 pts over 105 TUs ( 0/ 6/ 3)
Abid Haseeb - 45 pts over 105 TUs ( 1/ 4/ 2)
Grace Liu - 35 pts over 100 TUs ( 2/ 2/ 3)
Will from Harvard - 20 pts over 105 TUs ( 0/ 2/ 0)

Matt Jackson - 10 pts over 35 TUs ( 1/ 1/ 3)
