Western Invitational Tournament (March 2013)

Post by Blackboard Monitor Vimes »

Hello, everyone. This spring, Berkeley will be teaming up with Auroni Gupta, Jarret Greene, and Jasper Lee to edit the Western Invitational Tournament. This regular-difficulty tournament will be available for mirrors beginning March 2, 2013.

Eligibility: This will be left to the discretion of the TD. Open teams will be allowed at some sites (Berkeley, for sure) in order to allow them to have reasonable field sizes. The UVA site of this tournament will be restricted to players attending the same institution.

Our packet requirements are the same as that of ACF. Any team with at least one person on it who played a regular, collegiate, academic quizbowl tournament prior to September 1, 2011 must submit a packet for this event.

(+25) February 3
(+50) February 17

I've so far only heard from interested parties about mirrors in the Midwest. There's some solid editing talent working on this set, so if you're interested in hosting a mirror, please let me know!

UVA pulled out of this project a few days ago. Unless another team is willing to co-edit, it will be cancelled.

For obvious reasons I'd like to see this event happen. I don't think WKU has enough experienced writers to fully collaborate on something like this, I think could help edit some subjects if absolutely necessary, although I'm sure you'd like to find more qualified people if this event were to happen.

Has Berkeley considered helping with/combining this project with Terrapin?

Yes--we got in touch with the Maryland club. They have decided to pursue Terrapin independently.

I still think this is a good idea, considering Chris isn't editing TIT this year (i.e. It's Terrapin I'm worried about, not WIT).
