Stats Repository

Post by marnold »

Quizbowl should have a somewhat centralized stats repository where SQBS files (or at least the html outputs of them) can be kept for posterity. This would be good since (1) ad hoc hosting each tournament on someone's college webspace is a tragically impermanent option (some ridiculous percentage of my playing career's stats vanished when Donald Taylor graduated) and (2) central access makes finding them easier.

Not what I mean! Not for going forward, I mean for historical tournaments. Life may not even be worth living if I can't conveniently figure out who was on Chicago Random Street Corner. Though I guess this can also serve to encourage people to actually use something that's more centralized and permanent so future generations aren't in my predicament.

So basically we need someone to comb the wayback machine.

Reasonably sure it was Seth, Dani Brecher, and Sam Casper.

You can (and are encouraged to) upload any stats you find from old sources to the DB, which will not be going away.

A lot of Illinois results can be found here. Unfortunately, that particular Illinois Open is missing.

As a starting point, I've already done this for Missouri S&T; all of the results I could find (at least until I graduated) are compiled here.

The old alt.college.college-bowl group is archived here and is good for a lot of ancient quizbowl history.

Before netfiles (my old repository) vanished, I was able to pull down everything I uploaded to it.

Here are the tournaments I have files on:

UIUC Earlybird 2007
UIUC Earlybird 2009
ACF Nationals 2009/10 (I believe I have already passed these on to ACF)
Champaign Centennial QUALMFREE (2009 or 2010, I forget)
Everything from Chicago Open 2008
Decembrist III (2009)
EFT 2010 @ UIUC
IO 2009
MCMNT 2007/08
RMP Fest 2009 @ UIUC
Ferdinand Tonnies

If someone is willing to add all of these to the database, I am willing to pass them on.

I'd like to have these high school ones for the IHSSBCA site, please. (Incidentally, QUALM-FREE was 2010.)
