CO Matchmaking

Might as well start it for the lazy people who haven't thought of teams. I'd like to play and am reasonably sure I can make it. I can contribute witty remarks, can write fairly punctually with no regard for human life, and can pick up questions about America.

I haven't missed a CO since 2007 and I'm not going to start now! As always, my primary strengths are hair products, seasonally-inappropriate clothing, and completing eponyms.

Willing to write questions for early deadlines. I'm a solid player at European and world history and a few areas of world religion and mythology.

I'm interested in playing my first ever CO. I've been known to *gasp* answer the occasional science question too!

I'm pretty sure I can make it out to CO and can write questions at a reasonable pace for early deadlines. I'm mostly a history and literature player.

Hi, I'm also signing up for my first ever Chicago Open. I can contribute 1/4 of a packet for whichever deadline my teammates decide on (early would be nice). The subjects I can write reasonably competent questions about are biology, history, geography, religion/mythology, and chemistry. I am willing to try writing in other subjects if that's what my team needs, but those questions will need extensive editing to reach the quality required for a hard/open tournament.

Sinan and I have formed a team and are looking for people who are not bio/chem players. People who can make obnoxious wrestling references are also highly sought after.

I have created a spreadsheet. For the purposes of registration this is not an official document. Let's not have a debacle like last year again.

Hello, I'm Adam. I'm a Scorpio who enjoys long walks on the beach, world mythology, Agatha Christie novels, and religious history.

But actually, I'm nowhere near contender level and am mostly looking to play CO for fun but can still write for a deadline.

I'd like to play. I can contribute questions to an early packet and probably answer a few questions in science.

I would like to play CO with some people who I have not played quizbowl with before, and who would like to shoot for a finish somewhere in the third or fourth quintile of the field. As usual, I know some things about science and little else.

Ashvin also knows myth, provided he is not asleep at the time or thinks it is a religion question.

I'm gonna try my best to get to CO this year, so if anyone wants to team up, drop me a message, preferably if you're someone I haven't played with before. I know history and bits and pieces elsewhere and would like to at least beat Mike Cheyne.

I'd like to play this year for the first time in a while. I could contribute art, lit, and history.

I'll tentatively express interest (because I never know my summer plans until late). I enjoyed my experience last year so I'd like to play on a good team with teammates whose knowledge doesn't overlap too much with mine. My strengths are in myth, visual arts, and European history.

If history is any indicator, I am going. It'd be a shame not to, really.

At this point, I don't know much of anything.

I, too, would like to attend this year if possible. My specialties including negging Scrabble tossups and pretending to know biology, history, and myth.

I can attest to the Scrabble thing.

Also, I plan on attending CO this year, so I'm gonna start looking for potential teammates. I should to be able to get some history, literature, and fine arts, as well as the like 4 Jazz questions I expect to hear.

I'm not totally sure I can make it this year, but I'd like to play. I'm good at social science and assorted humanities.

I would like to play/contribute to a packet, though I won't be entirely sure if I can go for some time.

I would like to submit an early packet and play CO with some people. I'm pretty bad at lit and art and worse at everything else.

I'm willing to write for the earliest packet deadline and answer questions about literature, history, visual fine arts, and myth (in decreasing order of competence) if anyone is willing to have me on their team.

It looks like I'll be able to make it to CO. I like writing quizbowl questions better than playing quizbowl, so if you'd like someone else to write your entire packet (except music, probably) for the earliest deadline, you should put me on your team.

I can't promise great things in terms of playing, but I know a decent amount about neutrophils, John Irving and non-Trieste Italian cities if those are weak spots you're looking to patch up.

Joe Hansen and I are looking for teammates. We plan to hit the earliest packet deadline. We don't plan to win a lot of games or write/know a lot of science, so let me know if that interests you.

There is a strong (but not 100%) chance that I will be able to come to this. I'm best at questions about "thinkers" and their "thoughts," but I can also get music and some science and literature questions. I can write my 6/6 by the first packet deadline.

My team is still looking for a fourth. If you are interested in paying $30 to play without having to write a single question, let me know.

Doug Graebner and I would like to play with people who know things about literature, science, social science, music and/or philosophy. PM me if you're interested.

EDIT: We're playing with Benji Nguyen now. Would like to play with people who know science.

I don't know if this belongs here or in another separate thread, but I shall just post it here for now. I am trying to make travel plans for making it to Chicago Open (tentatively) to be a scorekeeper/backup moderator. I don't know how my plans will work out at the moment, since the transport situation I currently have is very "iffy". I was wondering if someone could help me find transportation (from Hamilton) to Chicago and maybe help me share accommodations. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
