Thanks, Peter; I don't know what the staff situation currently is, but if it turns out we need more staffers, I'll let you know.

My Meta will make an appearance, and you guys can decide whatever you want on how to use them. Expect 1/3 Abstruse Inside Jokes, 1/3 Mainstream Quizbowl, and 1/3 General Trash/GK/Things I like.

Yes, we can certainly do this (assuming there are packets that enough people haven't read).

Since it hasn't been mentioned, I have given consent to edit the Modern World packets, so I am assuming this will not be the same tournament that was played at PACE.

Oh, yes. This was already discussed amongst the participants, so I didn't think to mention it. (I have edited the first post to reflect this.)

Will do. Forgot to mention this earlier, but can we have Geo Monstrosity as well?

Well, if Geo Monstrosity is happening, I guess I'll have to make an appearance. Any other ideas for events that day? I'll try to convince some other peeps to come out.

If you're wanting more mashups, I wrote a set of Star Wars + academic ones for the same Chicago event JL wrote his Before/Afters; I can pass those along to whomever.

That famed Carleton duo of T̶h̶u̶n̶d̶e̶r̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶L̶i̶g̶h̶t̶n̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶ Nick Penner and Michael Martin will be coming down to play this, no matter what the constituent parts are.

EDIT: I'm also bringing the Carleton buzzers.

If I have a team for this (I don't right now), I'll go down and play all non-Modern World tournaments. If I go down, I'll bring the Penn buzzers.

I'd encourage you to keep looking around for a team / partner for whatever events you're playing, but I can also give you a Waterloo guarantee that we'll be happy to stuff you alongside some of our charming house players for any events that day that are not held as shootouts / singles (if there are any at all).

I am coming down with Dennis (there's a joke in there somewhere). Anyway, I will be there in some form, and I have coaxed a family member to come play with me as well...So are there, like, teams, or singles, or both, or what?

This is still up in the air, but probably doubles/teams for Modern World and the rest of the events as shootouts I would guess.

I will not be playing with Michael Martin anymore, but with Ian "Not The Worst Quizbowler In The World" Gillies. Prepare yourselves for the man who rocked 2014 ICT with his massive 2.05 PPG!

On behalf of Ian and myself, thanks to Huma, JJ, and everyone at Waterloo for putting on this great day. We really had a great time, and we're happy that no one got permanently lost. I hope we can do similar events in future!

Thanks to everyone who came out, and thanks also to Christine for handling logistics and stats, and to Faith, Jj, and Aaron for reading. I'm glad people had fun!

In terms of the results, the team of Dennis, Jordan, and Mr. Palmer won the Modern World event. In a thrilling series of games, which included Jay Misuk's first (?) Geo Monstrosity tie, Dennis, Jordan, and Leslie won the geography tournament.

I just like to thank everyone who came out to this event. I especially want to thank Huma, Christine, Aaron, JJ, and Faith for their excellent moderating. It was a truly fun and wonderful experience. The events were generally very well organized, and the decision on what packets to play were well thought out too.

P.S. Do you have a time frame for when we should expect the stats to be submitted?

A thoroughly enjoyable day---thanks to all who came out for providing excellent comradeship and competition, and a THANKS! to Huma and the uWaterloo group for running this efficiently, smoothly, and awesomely (and only losing 1 high schooler). Very big THANKS! to Huma, Faith and JJ for reading.

Great stuff, and looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

Agreed, it was fun to have such a laid-back yet decently-organized day of confraternizing and side eventing.
