I've consolidated all three free agents for SHEIKH onto a single team. There are eight teams, and I'm going to cap the field size at this unless there's any objections - additional people who are looking to play can solicit one of the several open slots on two-man teams.

Jordan, Cody, and I are staffing - we need one more staffer. A stats person would be ideal, but I can compile and upload stats the day after the tournament if we can't find one.

I've been hesitant to put my name on the docs due to an evolving family situation, but unless there's an emergency I should be able to staff this and the other side events.

Cody, when have you scheduled the remaining CO packets? Also, do people want to just hear the tossups, or to split into teams and play the packets that way?

After an naqt-style advantaged final, the Jackson et al. team comes out on top over Lawrence et al. Final stats tonight or tomorrow.

I had a great time at this tournament. The bouncebacks were especially fun (if more tiring), since they helped to keep players engaged on the other team's bonus. That said, they did make games somewhat longer, so it would probably be wise to restrict future collegiate bounceback endeavors to tournaments that are, like this one, relatively small and staffed by good readers.

At the end of the round robin of SHEIKH, there was a two-way tie for second place at 5-2 and a single team undefeated at 6-1. The two 5-2 teams played a play-in to the finals, in which Ben Zhang, Rafael Krichevsky, and Charlie Dees defeated John Lawrence, Joey Goldman, and Jonathan Magin to earn a spot in a disadvantaged final. They were then defeated by the 6-1 team of Mace Windu, Nate Boughner, and Vasa Clarke.

Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to everyone for playing.

EDIT: Also, is there going to be a private forum for VCUO? I don't see one yet.

I finally fell into the trap of misreading "VCUO" as "VICO." My bad.

The private forum for VCU Open has now been created.

And the wrap-up:

Thanks to all the teams who came out to play VCU Open. I was pleased to see our site pull in so many teams and I'm hoping everyone had a good time. Apologies for the lateness of Saturday—I tried to pack too many things into one day; even if things had run perfectly, we'd probably have been there past 9 PM. Luckily, Sunday went off without a hitch; I think almost everyone got to play what they wanted to play while leaving at most 1 game early. I'll have to be less aggressive about scheduling in the future.

Particular thanks of course, goes to my wonderful staffers (Evan Adams, Matt Bollinger, and all the VCU people), without whom this tournament couldn't've been run.

Stats for the VCU Open finals, We Have Never Been Modern, and Tricon should be up at the end of the day. You can e-mail me @ [email protected] with any errors.

Something's clearly off about the "bonuses heard" stat for the main event.

Yeah; I need to look into this. The overall, at least, appear to look correct with respect to bonuses heard.

Stats for We Have Never Been Modern
Stats for Tricon

Rooting out the problems w/ actual VCU Open stats is an on-going process and I doubt I'll have them finalized before tomorrow. Thanks in advance for your patience.
