ACE Fellowships

Post by Nick » Thu Jan 28, 2016 1:52 pm

Academic Competition Enterprises will be coordinating two ACE Fellowships in 2016. ACE Fellowships are an opportunity for college students and recent graduates to contribute to the quizbowl community in a substantive and far-reaching way! Each Fellowship includes staffing over a dozen buzzer competitions with opportunities along the way to moderate official matches, teach quizbowl-relevant class sessions, and inspire the next generation of academic competitors! More information on both Fellowships can be found below:

ACE Fellowship – Spring (February 15 – May 10, 2016)

• The primary responsibility is staffing the 39 Regional Finals of the National History Bee, Middle School Division.
• Spring Fellows will represent ACE at NAQT’s MSNCT (Atlanta) and NHBB's High School National Championship (Washington, D.C.).
• Although the Spring Fellowship is unpaid, fellows partake in a subsidized road trip! across the U.S. (40+ states!)
• 12 positions total; 0 remaining

ACE Fellowship – Summer (May 30 – July 31, 2016)

• The primary responsibility is staffing the 2016 ACE Camps
• Fellows will be required to design and develop 1 class on quizbowl content from a particular subject.
• The Summer Fellowship Group will also represent ACE at the PACE NSC (Chicago) and NHBB's Middle School Division National Finals (Chicago).
• Compensation: $1750
• 16 positions total; 9 remaining

Both Fellowships are full-time and should only be considered by individuals who do not have other personal, professional, or academic commitments that might conflict with the above-mentioned dates. ACE Fellowships require extensive travel; Fellows must have a valid driver's license. All transportation and lodging is provided and coordinated by ACE.

I can say from personal experience that traveling America with like-minded 20-somethings who care about academic competition is just as much fun as it sounds - this is an opportunity to do something you love while taking in all the sights and sounds of the United States! These fellowships will actively introduce our beloved buzzer game to the next generation of quizbowl players – if that sounds like the kind of mission work you’re interested in – apply today!

No particular academic major or area of expertise is required to apply; just a positive attitude!

To apply, please email me (nick <at> aceqb.com) with your resume and a brief description of what being an academic competitor means to you. First priority for the Summer Fellowship will be given to ACE Fellows who excel in the Spring Fellowship. We anticipate that ACE will have one or two full-time positions open up in the fall and we hope to fill those positions with candidates from the Summer Fellowship. Don’t hesitate to email me with any questions, comments, or concerns you might have. We look forward to hearing from you!
