Boston summer practices (2016)

Post by UlyssesInvictus »

Harvard and MIT are hosting summer practices together starting next week. As of now it's mainly just MIT doing the hosting, Tuesdays 7-9 PM in room 2-151; but Harvard is looking into finding its own rooms, after which the collective schedule will potentially change.

Stop by; have fun; play quizbowl! Anyone welcome, including toddlers* and old geezers**.

* high schoolers
** grad students and actual old geezers

Yes! I'm in Cambridge right now, but will probably show up in a week or so after my finals are done.

Who would be interested in a mirror of NASAT with some side events at Lexington sometime in late July or early August? It's not terribly convenient, but we should be able to get rooms.

Yes! (Up to the first week of August that is.)

Yes! Late July would be perfect.

I've personally never actually been in room 2-151 myself, but, if you're having trouble finding it tonight, PM me or Bryce and we'll help you get in.

ALSO: Harvard will tentatively start running practices next week (so not tomorrow) on Wednesday nights from 7:30 - 9:30 PM out of the WHRB (Harvard radio) office, which is located in the basement of Pennypacker Hall. You'll need to ring the doorbell to alert us to get in, so PM me if no one's answering. (There might also just not be anyone in yet.)

Where can incoming freshmen get some information about joining the Harvard team? I would definitely like to play, assuming I have time.

I don't want to monopolize the Boston thread, but:
- We'll email incoming freshmen once we get contact info from the NAQT incoming freshmen list.
- Find us at the first activity fair, and come talk to us in person :)
- Email me! I'll be happy to answer questions individually.

I'll also note that I've updated the earlier posts with the Harvard practice address.

Updated the OP to note that MIT is now only hosting practices on Tuesdays.

Why not loudly yell buzz or slap the door frame?

What happens if two people try to get in at the same time? Please refrain from making anarchical non-locking suggestions.

Please join us today for a raucous celebration of Neil Gurram's last quizbowl practice*, done the only way I know how to celebrate: by playtesting HFT questions.

*at least, until I convince him to enroll in HarvardX and continue his Boston-based reign of terror
