ACRONYM - (This) Tournament is a Crime main site - 2/26/17

Post by Auroni »

I guess I'm directing this now.

Copying from the main announcement:
Erik Nelson wrote: Play Quiz Bowl LLC is excited to announce the inevitable existence of ACRONYM X, an all pop-culture tournament for high school students that will be available beginning in late February of next year. While the production will again be headed by me, this year will not be co-produced by Robbinsdale Armstrong High School. The set will be written by myself, Daniel Vopava and William Golden.

DISTRIBUTION

ACRONYM X will consist of 11 packets and have a more standard, "CO Trash-ian" distribution than previous sets:

4/4 TV
4/4 Movies
4/4 Music (split somewhat evenly between pop, rock, r&b/rap, and "not those")
4/4 Sports (a bit under 1/1 of the "big 3" sports, with other sports filling out the rest)
1.5/1.5 Games (mostly video but some not)
1/1 Trash Lit/Comics
1.5/1.5 Multi-discipline/Weird things/"trash news" type stuff

Difficulty level will probably be about the same as last year. As with previous ACRONYMs, there'll be a reasonable focus on "recent trash," though there may be a bit less of that focus this time around. As always, accessibility is a top priority.
Erik has asked that I charge $15/player, so that's what I'll do. Many teams have already formed on the (This) Tournament is a Crime side event spreadsheet here, and you can still use that to coordinate, but I request that a representative from each team email me to officially register and I'll update the actual field below.

Field:

The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down (Carsten Gehring, Andrew Hart, Rob Carson, Mike Cheyne)
The Andersons Got Bids to ICT? (Tejas Raje, Kenji Shimizu, Naveed Chowdhury, Jordan Brownstein)

More people who formed teams on the spreadsheet should email me to actually register.

I hate to be a bear about trash stats: but it looks like you are missing the scoresheet from Will Durant's game against the Moccasin team. It's no big deal though.

I'd like to commend whoever came up with "The Andersons Got Bids to ICT?", as that is an absolute 80-grade team name.
