Hi everyone,

Here is the link to the detailed stats for the Michigan site of (This) Tournament is a Crime. The detailed stats compiles data on each question organised into a number of useful categories such as by author, by subject, by answer line, and by team.

Because the detailed stats contains every single answer line in the set, please obviously refrain from sharing the link to the spreadsheet.

The detailed stats were created by Ophir, so please thank him when you have an opportunity.

Do not report corrections or problems accessing the page in this thread; they will only be accepted via PM.

As always, this is an excellent display. Thanks to Ophir for that; I look forward to the day when stat reports like this are standard at every major tournament.

One thing I hadn't noticed for previous tournaments is the "Players" sheet; the histogram of buzz points and the first buzz statistics are both very useful in terms of teasing out more data than standard statistics allow. For instance, we see that many players with more PPG than Billy Busse had far fewer first buzzes, which is a nice way to demonstrate the effect that a top specialist has beyond their PPG. This is something interesting for further consideration.

This idea is actually coming to fruition! I think what Ophir has done is extremely helpful for the meta-game of quiz bowl in terms of ranking players and examining stat lines more in depth. Before, what categories a player was good at and how early they were buzzing didn't really materialize on the stat sheet, but now we can actually see what categories they're buzzing in on and where. I find the First Buzz stat , the histogram of buzz points, and the rankings by categories all to be extremely useful in seeing how good a player stacks up "against the field."

While we still have to consider stuff like shadow-effect, the other team negging, and buzzer races, I think Ophir has done a lot for the meta-game with these detailed stats. I'm surprised more people haven't expressed their thoughts on the forums, but I'm sure most people are thinking the same thing.

Can we share the spreadsheet with people who aren't going to play the tournament (and who, for example, want to see it for player poll voting purposes)?

Alternatively, are there any mirrors of this set still coming up? If not, can the subforum just be opened up to general viewing?
