2020 NAQT SCT at UCLA (2/8/2020)

I am pleased to announce that UCLA Quiz Bowl will host the Southern California site of the 2020 NAQT Sectional Championship Tournament on Saturday, February 8, 2020.

Location:
This tournament will take place at UCLA. Exact details of which rooms we will use will be posted closer to the date of the tournament.

Question Set and Eligibility:

This tournament will have two divisions, which will be played on their corresponding SCT sets. These will use rounds of 22 tossups and 22 bonuses, and will be untimed.

Eligibility rules can be found at NAQT's website. In short, players are eligible for Division 2 as long as they have not either played ICT or played on a team that qualified for ICT. All players on a team must be Division 2 eligible in order for the team to play in Division 2.

Format and Rules:
The tournament will use NAQT's rules. It will likely be run using one of NAQT's approved SCT formats. More details on the format will be explained once the field is finalized.

Fees and Discounts:
$145 base fee for the first team from a school; $120 for second or subsequent teams
- $10 discount per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)
- $40 discount per experienced moderator
- $20 discount (per team) for schools new to quizbowl (neither competed in nor hosted SCT in 2018 or 2019)
- $20 discount (per team) for teams that travel 60 or more miles one-way (distance measured from your campus to UCLA by Google Maps)

Payment:
Payment will be taken at check-in on February 8. We will accept cash, checks made out to "Anishka Bandara," or Venmo.
