ICT parking

Does anyone know where teams should be parking during the ICT? Or if there is more than one lot, which one would be best in terms of cost and proximity to the playing buildings?

Thanks.

Click on "Reckford" on the left side of the screen to get a better idea of parking lots close to the building.

Be warned that some lots may be restricted to UMD students, faculty, staff, etc.

This is, by disclaimer, off of the top of my head and you should check the UMD website for special events, etc. before taking anything as gospel.

That said, probably the best place to park will be Regent's Drive Parking Garage, which is helpfully right across the street from the Physics Building. Coming from Route 1, turn onto Campus Drive, go to the traffic circle with the M in the middle, and drive through that to the right. You'll pass two buildings and the garage will be on your left. (Annoyingly the Regent's Drive entrance is almost always closed, so you may have to drive around the garage a bit to find one that is not.)

Which reminds me for a more general parking announcement: if you are driving to campus, DO NOT PARK IN REGENT'S DRIVE GARAGE OR THE ARMORY LOT BEFORE 4 PM ON FRIDAY. You WILL get a ticket-- the parking police are vicious. If you're going to be on campus before 4, park in either the Stadium Drive Garage or the Union Lane Garage, both of which are pay lots (of the two Stadium Drive has a slightly cheaper fee structure). After 4 you can move your vehicles to one of the other lots.

Cheers,
Brad

If you are arriving on campus before 4 for some reason and don't want a ticket, you can usually find meter spaces relatively close to the physics building by taking the following path:

Enter campus from Route 1, take a right at the "M" Traffic Circle.
Turn left at the second stop sign (it will be next to the barn)
Turn left into the small parking lot here. You should be able to find meters in this lot.
If they are all filled, exit the parking lot and go straight out. There will be meters on that road.

The physics building is only about a 3 minute walk from these parking lots. Just head back towards the Parking Garage that mrsmiley described. If you're using the campus map, these two lots are right next to Centreville Hall and the Computer and Space Science building.

Actually, it turns out that the teams will initially be meeting in the Armory, not the physics building. So disregard the above post. The best place to park (after 4) for the Armory is in Lot L which is right next to that building.

From Route 1, turn left at the M Traffic circle. Take a left into the parking lot at the second stop sign at this stop sign to enter Lot L.
