When did this happen?

SETH TEITLER TO EDIT SCT

I hadn't seen this discussed on here at all, but found it on NAQT's home page. Seems like good news to me. Seth, are you being given any leeway on overall distribution and per-round vs. per-tournament issues though?

Hey, check this out:
NAQT wrote:Seth does remain eligible to compete in the 2009 Intercollegiate Championship Tournament; we have updated our internal production software to ensure that, despite his temporary empowerment, he cannot see other questions in our database. In addition, we are tracking every question that is sent to him for review as an SCT candidate so that even if it is rejected, it will not end up in the ICT.
I commend NAQT for taking this step. My first thought upon reading this was: I told you so. This was something that I've been suggesting for literally years, and I'm glad that NAQT is now doing the eminently logical thing.

I'm extremely happy that NAQT has decided to take this step, and I want to thank Seth for agreeing to do this. I'm really looking forward to the SCT now.

Out of curiosity, did Yaphe do the last couple SCTs, or just the ICTs? I think I remember him saying that there was only so much he could do within the constraints of NAQT policies, so unless Seth is given more freedom, it's likely there will be certain improvements, but perhaps not incredibly drastic ones.

Oh, above independent clause, I nominate you for understatement of the year.

This happened very recently. So recently, in fact, that some of the details haven't been finalized. I certainly won't have carte blanche to set my own distribution.

In answer to another question, I believe Andrew worked on the 2007 and 2008 SCTs, as well as the 2006-2008 ICTs.

Presumably you mean the second part of Matt's post, Mr. Westbrook, as otherwise your comment would suggest you believe the SCT will be very much improved this spring, an attitude belied by many of your previous posts. However, the curmudgeonly grammarian in me regrets to inform you that the second part is not a clause at all, having neither subject nor verb, but a phrase. Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow.

There is something paralyzingly hypnotic about the cadence of your sentences. You must be bewitching me.

But yes, I applaud this move. I look forward to lots of real earth science and mythology.
