Minnesota will bring at least one, probably two, possibly three teams to this, I would imagine.

Illinois will certainly try to play this, and will probably bring from two to four teams.

Truman State will also endeavor to bring at least one, possibly two teams to this event.

Bumping this thread up, seeing as the no-penalty packet deadline is next Sunday.

As of now, we have the following field:

Carleton 2
Illinois 2
Iowa (house) 1
Minnesota 2
Missouri S&T 1
Truman State 1-2

Once again, if you'd like to register teams, post here or e-mail me at [email protected] .

EDIT: Updating team numbers.

There's a possibility that Missouri State will bring one team to this.

I've noticed that hardly anybody from our site has submitted a packet, according to Matt's list on the main Penn Bowl page. If people are planning on attending with a different number of teams than what is listed above, let me know ASAP because I need to nail down how many rooms we will need sometime this week.

Illinois is going to have its packet in awfully soon, and any other teams that we're bringing shouldn't need to submit one. I think we'll probably have two for this, rather than any more, though.

Minnesota will have two teams there (one of which is required to write a packet, which we hopefully have turned in as of this morning).

Not so much. I did give you the $10 one-day extension, so hopefully I'll see something within the next 4 hours and 10 minutes. I've also been in contact with Illinois about an extension for their packet.

If there's any non-novice players on Truman State or Carleton, then I need to hear from those teams quite soon about their plans.

Carleton has recently let me know that their teams will be entirely first and second year players. On the other hand, I've had no contact with Truman State since before winter break.

Here's a synopsis of the tournament announcement that I e-mailed to participants yesterday, along with a final field update:

Carleton 2
Illinois 1
Iowa (house) 0-1
Minnesota 2
Missouri S&T 1
Ragab/Soderholm 1

As for the tournament set-up, with likely run a double round robin (12 rounds per team on 14 packets), with a finals being held in the case of a tie.

The tournament will be held entirely in MacLean Hall (MLH), with registration taking place in MacLean 105. The tourney schedule is as follows:

8:00-8:45 AM Registration in 105 MLH
8:45 AM Gameplay begins

Street parking in downtown Iowa City on Saturdays is NOT free. I suggest parking in the Old Capital Mall Ramp, which is located a block south of MacLean Hall (and an entrance to which can be found on Capital near the intersection of Capital and Burlington).

Brief Results:

7 teams played a double round robin, with Minnesota A (Andrew, Rob, Brendan, Mike) clearing the field at 12-0. Illinois came in second at 10-2, with the two-game differential meaning that a finals round was not played. Top individual scorers were Mike Sorice and Gautam.

Full stats should be posted sometime in the next couple days.

I think some of the stats for Carleton A got mixed up, but none of the problems seem all that significant. Thanks to Iowa for running a tournament that was enjoyable and ran on time.

Good tournament--Paul Drube made the trains run on time and I approve of being done by 6:30 with still a lot of solid quiz bowl.

Yes, this tournament was excellently run. The tournament building was wonderfully convenient as well, close to parking, close to food. It was great. Thanks Paul, Q, et al.!
