Well, you may not have a preference, but appears as if NAQT certainly does. From what I can read from NAQT's SCT host requirements:

Tournaments may be Friday/Saturday, Saturday-only, or Saturday/Sunday events. Of those, Friday/Saturday and Saturday-only events are preferred. Despite this flexibility, every 2008 Sectional chose to be a Saturday-only event and NAQT expects that will also be the case in 2009.

Nowhere that I can see allows an SCT to be a Sunday-only event.

Well, I'm glad to see people in Canada care so much about our little tournaments here down south.

Field Update:

NAQT D1:
Alabama
Louisiana-Lafayette
Tulane
Mississippi State
which means we'll be able to have an autobid for the D1 ICT

NAQT D2:
Alabama (2)
Central Arkansas
Louisiana-Lafayette (2)
Millsaps
Samford
Tulane
possibly some MSU house teams, depending on the field size

TIT:
Alabama (3)
Louisiana-Lafayette (2)
LSU
Tulane (2)
MSU (?), again depending on field size and number of volunteers.

Not too late of course if anyone else wants to sign up

Final (probably) field update:

NAQT D1:
Alabama (2)

NAQT D2:
Alabama (2)
Central Arkansas (2)
Louisiana-Lafayette (2)
Millsaps
Mississippi College (probably)
Mississippi State (2)
Samford
Tulane

TIT:
Alabama (2)
Louisiana-Lafayette (2)
LSU
Mississippi State (2)
Tulane (2)

If you stay stuck at 5, I think your best course of action may be bumping up one house team to DI. As long as they don't qualify for ICT, they actually wouldn't lose their DII eligibility by playing in DI once. Or, of course, you could do a triple round robin with 3 byes, which wouldn't be that fun, but would provide extra staff, or take out your DI team (since you can take an auto-host bid anyway) and do a quadruple round robin.

I'd much rather a 6 team tournament, that way we'd get 15 rounds in and not have to see every other team four times. I'm not much of a fan of quadruple round-robins. Anyway, we'll be in tonight.

I'd much rather a 6 team tournament too, but I don't know who the sixth team is going to be.

Anyhow, a 5 team tournament is still just a triple RR, with byes.

For the record, who names a tournament TIT anyway? It's kinda awkward to advertise this tournament to people I don't know, especially if they're female or go to a private religious school.

Not if you advertise it as "a mirror of Maryland's Terrapin Invitational Tournament"--at least at Chicago, we've usually called it Terrapin rather than TIT.
especially if they're female or go to a private religious school.
It's probably better not to get me started here.

While I can understand where you're coming from, if you're embarrassed or whatever to promote this tournament due to its acronym then don't mirror it.

Yeah, think a little and go "hmm, we're in a conservative hotbed, maybe it's better to just call it the 'Terrapin Invitational'" or come up with a different name for your mirror.

Well yeah, that's what we did.

My original suggestion was to rename it the After Sectionals Showdown.

Considering that TIT was paired with the Atlantic Seaboard Skirmish (a trash tournament) two years ago, you'd hardly be original.

Yeah we also apparently ripped this joke off from some mid-90s trash tournament at Maryland, the Andy something Spectacular.

NAQT Sectionals results:

In d1, Alabama A was not seriously challenged the whole day and went 12-0.
In d2, Alabama C beat Mississippi State B in a playoff after both teams went 13-1 on the day.

Stats will be posted as soon as the TD sends me the file.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Starkville for a very long weekend, and thanks for bearing with us as the majority of our staffers for today decided to drink last night and just not come this morning.

Here are the stats from NAQT Sectionals:

Here are the stats from the TIT mirror today:

also, ULL left early today because one of their players was sick.
