Pre Announcement for INDIA

Hello

I am currently working on writing a short vanity tournament. It will be about 6-7 rounds, consisting of 20 tossups each distributed in the following manner:

Distribution
4 Biology
4 Non American Literature
4 Painting
3 Non US History
2 India-related content*
2 Organic Chemistry
1 Economics
* Any content that is not within this distribution may also contain India-related content, but I will try to keep that at a minimum. I will try to include accessible Indian pop-culture topics, myth, religion, geography, intellectuals, and some wacky stuff. I will obviously do my best to avoid the "free points if you're Indian" thing.

Who can play?
Anybody can. Teams will be 4 person teams, just because there are so many topics in the distro.

Fee Structure
There will be a nominal fee that will not exceed $7 per person.

Why Am I Writing This?
My motivation for this tournament is to actually enjoy writing questions again, because that enjoyment (which I have certainly experienced) currently feels like a vague memory. I also don't intend on having many other commitments to quizbowl for the upcoming year because I want to give this my best effort.

Difficulty
I would like to write somewhat of a difficult tournament (average difficulty of at most ACF Nationals; no higher), mostly so that I can get a grasp on some of the harder stuff as a player. However, I can understand this being an issue due to the rigid distribution, and will announce any changes to difficulty if necessary.

If so, please contact me at [email protected]. I would really appreciate someone with decent knowledge in any of the fields helping me out, even if it only entails playtesting tossups and giving suggestions.

When and where will this happen?
Since announcing tournaments early seems to be in fashion, I have decided to follow the trend and announce this early. This will most probably be run at MO 2009.

Anything else
If any crazy thing happens that allows me to finish writing this tournament earlier than September 2009, I will revise the number of rounds upward, so that everyone can play more quiz bowl. If I am forgetting anything else, please let me know.
