Announcement: Missouri Open Mirror at Valencia CC (6/6/09)
[Edited for field update below.]
There seems to be enough preliminary interest for me to announce that Valencia will host a mirror of the Missouri Open in sunny Orlando on Saturday, June 6. This is an open tournament originally requiring packet submission to Charlie Dees and co.; details can be found in his original announcement: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6826
Note that Mr. Dees has generously decided to allow teams to play without packet submission, so you're off the hook if you didn't.
I'm sure we'll end up with 2-3 Valencia house teams as well as (I hope) some other Florida CCs and USF, FSU and UF, but I hope we can attract some teams from outside Florida to this. If you're interested, please reply here or to me at cborglum at valenciacc dot edu.
Field update (6/2):
Valencia (3 bastard-ish teams)
Borglum solo
UCF
Chipola (2)
South Florida CC
North Florida CC
Ahmad
Brevard CC
FSU
Hardee HS (3)
Florida
I don't expect this to change much, but if you're not listed above and want to come, e-mail me ASAP. Otherwise that looks like 16 teams, so we'll probably split into two brackets of eight for RR and then do something for playoffs for all.

Maryland is much more than likely (upwards of 90%) going to be writing a trash tournament to pair with our own Missouri Open mirror (it will likely be packet submission or half-packet submission). Would Valencia have any interest in mirroring this, as well?

I'll ask around, Chris. It's hard for me to get two full weekend days sometimes (read: getting permission from wife), but folks could play it even if I weren't there. If folks want it, I'll tell them to send packet inquiries/submissions to you.

I think I mentioned this the other night, but UCF is going to this.
I'll see about having UF send a team. At the very least, I'll make Sean go.

Thanks for the offer, Bruce, but I don't think we're going to have anyone hanging around after the main tournament. I look forward to hearing them later, though.

FSU went 10-0 to win our MO mirror in Orlando. My team went 9-1, losing 175-135 to Billy and FSU. Ahmad went 8-2 to finish 3rd. I'll have some stats some day.
Thanks to Charlie et al for organizing.
