By phone call from Bruce Arthur, here's a short version of what happened at the end:

Harvard and Brown were both undefeated heading into the last game of the playoffs; it finished 300-300. Harvard had a protest rejected over a bonus part. Ted gets the tiebreaker. Harvard then went on to win the final with their one-game advantage.

Still no stats? Hmmm...Someone is sleeping in this weekend, eh? Oh well, rest IS important! Still, does anyone have any details beyond the fact that Harvard won? For example---what was the order of the next 5 or 6 teams in the Championship round robin? Any specifics would be appreciated.

As I noted in the rules forum, the board staff has set up a hidden discussion forum to facilitate discussion of Penn Bowl. If you'd like to access said forum, send me an e-mail with your username and tell me where you played. It would be cool if you could add the phrase "Penn Bowl" to your e-mail's subject line so that gmail filters it nicely.

I know most of the rest of the team was playing or staffing PB Trash today (I had to beg out to catch up on real work), and the playoff stats aren't entered yet, so it may take a day or two.

Sorry for the delay, I haven't really had an elongated period of access to my laptop. This is just prelims, I'll have playoffs done by tomorrow night. Also one of the rounds is funky because I was only able to remedy the Princeton packet in half the rooms, so for the rest if they got more than 16 tossups, I tried to cut it off at 16 so as not to affect bonus conversion--http://results.scobo.net/Penn/pbprelims

One small correction to the stats. In Harvard's game against NYU B we actually had 14 TUs and not 9. I got 7 TUs (rather than 3) with one neg and Andy got 2 TUs (rather than 1).

Another correction: Yale B's stats have been switched with Princeton B's for our match against them. We beat them 300-205, rather than losing to them 300-205.

I would guess the Naval Academy. If I'm right, that's pretty awesome.

Actually it was Andrew Lim playing solo. Though the U.S Naval Academy from what I understand does have a team because they expressed intrest in coming to the GMU SCT site this year.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking to, and it would make sense, except that they weren't on the original field. Of course, if you're right, then it would be awesome.

Also, I'm pretty sure our bonus conversion was higher than 15.61. For example, in the rebracket if ties were broken by bonus conversion, then our bonus conversion had to be higher than brown B's 17.98

If it was higher than 17.34, you would have been in the playoffs instead of Rice

If they really used P/B as the deciding factor for rebracketing, Brown B should have made it to the top bracket instead of Rice. If they used PPG as the deciding factor, that explains Rice's making top bracket, but doesn't explain why Yale A was ranked ahead of Brown B and Yale B in the second bracket, since the latter two had higher PPG. Either way, something's off.

Rich, for your P/B stat to be wrong, they would have to have the wrong score for one of your matches. For which match do you think they have the wrong score?

Unfortunately looking through the stats for Yale B a bit more carefully, I have found a lot more errors. In our Round 1 match against State College B, all of my team's buzzes have been attributed to me. One of those tossups should be Daniel's and the neg should be Sam's. In our Round 3 match against NYU A, I had six tossups and two negs, not five tossups and one neg, and Aaron had three tossups, not four, which means that our team has mysteriously lost a neg. The final score was 455-50, not 475-50 as listed. And in our Round 5 match against Columbia A, my stats have been switched with Aaron's.

Thank you. There were actually five of us, but we just rotated the names.

Is this set posted and/or being discussed somewhere? I sent a note to the admin with Penn Bowl in the title but nothing happened.

Hey George, the link for 2010 Penn Bowl on the packet archive is 1) broken and 2) leads to a page saying "T-Party" is missing.

From the page source:

Code: Select all

<li><a href="/archive/TParty2010>2010 T-Party</a></li>
<li><a href="/archive/PennBowl2010>2010 Penn Bowl</a></li>
<li><a href="/archive/2010ACFWinter.zip">2010 ACF Winter</a></li>
It's just missing some close-quotes. The correct URLs are http://collegiate.quizbowlpackets.com/a ... Party2010/ and http://collegiate.quizbowlpackets.com/a ... nBowl2010/

EDIT: further examination of the page source reveals that the link to the zip for RMP Fest 2008 also has a typo (missing a ">" and text to go between the <a> tags):

Code: Select all

<li><a href="/archive/io2008/">Illinois Open 2008</a> <a href="/archive/io2008.zip">[zip]</a></li>
<li><a href="/archive/rmp2008/">RMP Fest 2008</a> <a href="/archive/rmp2008.zip"</a></li>

I remember seeing them on a SCT stats page at MIT last year. I don't believe they attended ACF Fall because a quick check of the Northeast site of ACF Fall doesn't show West Point for stats.
