Greetings,
The University of Minnesota will be hosting a mirror of the 2009 ACF Fall Tournament at the Twin Cities Campus.
To registers teams, please send an email to [email protected] with the number of teams your program expects to bring along, as well as the number of staffers and/or buzzers you will be bringing. I would also like to have some kind of a contact information for one representative from your team so that we could get in touch with you in case there is any emergency the day of the tournament
Packet submission: According to the ACF guidelines, any team with at least one person on it who played a regular, collegiate, academic quizbowl tournament prior to September 1, 2008 is required to submit a packet in order to participate in an ACF tournament in 2009-2010. Please refer to viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7881 for specifics on the packet submission.
Fee Schedule: We will be using the standard ACF Fee schedule.
Base fee - $120 per team.
Packet submission discounts/penalties:
Sept 19, 2009: -$50
Sept 26, 2009: -$25 (-$50 for teams not required to submit packets)
Oct 10, 2009: No penalty (-$25 for teams not required to submit packets)
Oct 17, 2009: +$25
Oct 24, 2009: +$50
After Oct. 24, 2009: The editors may grant one or more 24-hour extensions at an additional penalty of $10 per day.
Other discounts/penalties:
Fully functional buzzer systems: -$5 per buzzer (No maximum)
Staffers: -$10 each (No maximum)
Laptop: -$5 each (Maximum 1 per team.)
Travel: -$10 per 200 miles (one way, as determined by Google Maps)
International: -$20 (For teams representing schools located in a different country than the tournament host.)
Schools new to ACF:
Teams new to quizbowl: -$75
High school teams: -$50
Minimum fee: $0
For further information regarding these discounts, please consult: http://acf-quizbowl.com/documents/packetsub.php#fees
Check-in/Registration/Location:
This tournament will likely be held at Coffman Memorial Union, but it has not been finalized yet. Registration/Checkin will run from 8:30-9:00, with games starting as soon after 9:00 AM as possible.
Payment and stuff:
Teams are expected to pay on Saturday morning or before. Only cash and cheques (ones made out by your school or by a person on your team) will be accepted. Specific information on the checks part will be provided soon. Please let me know if you need an invoice ahead of time.
Other Miscellaneous Stuff:
We want this tournament to end as soon as possible (without compromising on the tournament format) since a Gophers football game is going to be held at the brand new TCF Bank Stadium on campus, and the whole place will likely be very crowded. The game begins at 7:30 PM, and we would like to get done at least a few hours before. As such, we request all teams to cooperate with us and help run it as efficiently as possible.
Many Thanks,
Gautam Kandlikar

Near-final field update:
Macalester: 1 team
Iowa: 1 team
Eden Prairie HS: 1 team
Carleton: 2 teams
Minnesota: 4 teams
Total: 9 teams
EDIT: Final format is likely to be 9-team RR, then one of the house teams will be contracted and we'll run bracketed 4/4 RR playoffs with, of course, standard finals.

Minnesota B won the tournament with an 11-0 record.
Carleton A finished second, and Eden Prairie finished third. Both went 8-3.
Full stats should hopefully be posted in the next few hours.
