ANNOUNCEMENT: Chipola College Tournament(1/08/10)

Chipola College in Marianna, FL will host the Chipola New Year Extravaganza on Friday, January 8th and Saturday January 9th, 2010. This will be a two-day academic tournament played on NAQT Invitational Set #90. This tournament will take place two weeks before the Community College Sectional Qualifiers .

The tournament will take place on the Chipola Campus in Building Z (Literature/Language).

FEES: Base Fee: $100 per team. Discounts are available as follows:
• -$5 for working lockout buzzer system(up to 2)
• -$10 for each staffer that is used

Checks should be made out to: Chipola College. Cash will also be fine.

SCHEDULE: Registration will begin at 5 PM CST on 1/08/10, with announcements at 5:45 and tournament play beginning at 6 PM. We will probably play 5 or 6 rounds and finish around 10 PM. Play will resume the next morning at 9 AM CST and hopefully be finished around 1 PM or sooner.

ELIGIBILITY: This tournament is designed for community college teams. However, we will accept high schools teams as well up to 32 teams.

LODGING: There is a block of rooms set up at the Microtel Inn and Suites. Tell them you are with the Chipola Academic Tournament or give them my name, Stan Young. The rate is $49.99. They have blocked off 30 rooms, so the sooner you get them the better. If you have any problems, ask for Lisa Goff.

Just a little tidbit, Dallin and I are going to be writing a relatively novice lit singles tournament for this.

Here are the stats for the Chipola New Year Tournament. Chipola ED(Ethan and Drew) beat Chipola DC(Dallin and Cody) 285-140 to claim the title. Chipola NB(Nate and Brittany) beat North FL A in the consolation game and finished third.
