Trashtwostrophe-Preliminary Announcement

This is the official announcement for Trashtwostrophe, the second installment of Dan Donohue and my trash tournament. This installment will be edited by me and will include contributions from a large, ever-growing group which includes Dan Donohue, Brad Fischer, Craig Messner, Charles Martin, Kirun Sankaran, and other surprise guests.

WHAT?
Trashtwostrophe is a tossup-only side event trash tournament aimed at the high school and undergrad age group, as a higher than normal percentage of questions will be about content from the last decade and questions will not be as difficult as events like CO Trash.

WHEN?
Trashtwostrophe currently has nine locations:
Huskie Bowl at Northern Illinois University on February 6th
Aracadia Carnal Embrace IV at Arcadia High School, CA on February 13th
Solon, Ohio on February 13th
Ohio State University on February 20th
Bettendorf, IA on February 27th
MCMNT at UIUC on March 6th
Tournament by the Sea at Cedar Shoals High School on March 21st
Oak Park-River Forest High School
University of Minnesota, Date TBD

IDEAL FORMAT
Trashtwostrophe is designed for singles or doubles with a large number of quick rounds.

I'M NOT GOOD AT TRASH, CAN I STILL PLAY?
Yes, as with Trashtastrophe, Trashtwostrophe aims to have extremely accessible answer lines and should be enjoyable to play for most quizbowlers.

DISTRIBUTION
Each round consists of twenty tossup questions and a tiebreaker which follow this distribution:

• 8 Movies & TV (Ideally four of each)
• 4 Music
• 4 Sports
• 1 Video Games
• 3 Miscellaneous (Trash Lit, Internet stuff, Consumerism and Advertising, General Knowledge, Multi-category)

WHERE DO THE PROCEEDS GO?
The proceeds from the main site at NIU will go to the Dan Donohue PACE NSC Fund. Other funds will help pay off the writers.

MIRRORS
As with Trashtastrophe, Dan and I are looking for mirrors. We charge a flat, per team rate which is determined on an individual basis. As Trashtastrophe has not been released to the public, we can also couple those questions with any mirror of Trashtwostrophe. We would very much prefer these questions be played after an academic tournament. I can release a sample round of questions to prospective mirrors via my email, [email protected].

WRITERS
Do you want to contribute to Trashtwostrophe? AWESOME. I am looking for contributions ranging from a few questions in any category to a full packet. Please contact me at [email protected] if you are interested in contributing.

You will receive a full packet at the very latest by January 23rd (provided you do not want it earlier for editing purposes) that I will work to make no harder than ACF Fall level.

EDIT: Due to my lack of knowledge in the Sports category, you will receive only 1 tossup for this category. I will still submit 3 more tossups (for a total of 20), they will just consist of 1/0 Movies and 2/0 Music.
EDIT x2: Due to the generous contribution of a Sports distribution by Alex Wang, this gap has been closed and I will be providing 4 extra tossups (the aforementioned 3 and 1/0 Sports) with my packet. If I find I have the time (and the editors need it), I may write another 13/0 for a second packet (which would just need 3/0 Sports and some editing to be complete).
