2019 Pre-Nationals Poll

Post by Berniecrat » Tue May 07, 2019 10:30 pm

After running the Midseason Poll, Groger Ranks is pleased to announce our 2019 Pre-Nationals Poll. There will be three categories, where voters can rank who they believe the top 15 teams are overall and their predictions for top 15 at HSNCT and PACE NSC. Justifications are required, especially if the ballot will consist of multiple hot takes (which themselves are not inherently discouraged, but obviously require some sort of justification). The poll will close 11:00 PM Central on May 18, 2019, upon which we will release the results shortly. The link to the poll can be found here: https://forms.gle/q2JBQ6xi9924peKQ8. Happy voting!

Quick points of clarification based on questions we've already received. We are making this 15 only as opposed to 25 as in past polls in order to standardize the amount of teams ranked on each ballot. In the midseason poll we ran, as well as the player poll that Groger Ranks member Anson Berns helped run last year, having people have different amount of teams/players ranked on their ballot (with only a certain amount required) led to significant variance. We have tried to eliminate this by making all of the ranking spots required to fill out. Making 25 required for every category, however, seemed like overkill, so we cut it down to 15 required for each of the three separate polls included in the Google Form (overall, HSNCT, and NSC). We will still post the top 25 for each poll if there are at least 25 distinct teams that get ranked.

As to team names, we will be using the same standard that we did for the midseason poll:

When filling out this poll, please do not abbreviate team names at all. Specifically, please use the name of the team as it appears in the offical standings for last year's HSNCT (https://www.naqt.com/stats/tournament/s ... nt_id=8400.) In addition, please put a letter with every team, even if you don't think it needs it. For example, Stevenson should be input as Adlai E. Stevenson A. This is for ease of compilation of rankings. Thank you for voting!
If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out!
