The Sunday (playoff and consolation) rounds will use longer and harder questions similar to those in NAQT's Regular Invitational Series. The subject distribution and overall style of the playoff rounds will remain the same as the preliminary rounds.
This change was made based on customer feedback and looking at the overall conversion numbers for the past years; taken together, it seemed clear that harder questions with more clues would be necessary to distinguish the nation's elite middle-school teams.

This is a good and long overdue change, with the caveat that certain subjects should be tempered to reflect the knowledge base of middle schoolers (so not having calculus comp math, for instance). I trust that NAQT has the good judgment to write questions befitting the high-level middle school field.
Concur with Ankit. The last few years have felt as though you could've replayed the final stages of the tournament ten times and had five or six different champions. I'll be interested to see how an increased difficulty on the playoff rounds plays.

I'm running a mirror of No Banter Please, a trash tournament by Erik Christensen and co., tomorrow (Saturday) night after play has concluded. More information can be found in this thread: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... 91#p358091. Players and coaches are welcome as well.
Please note that this tournament is not affiliated or sponsored by NAQT in any official capacity.

Some of the late playoff games were livestreamed on twitch, but seem to have since been deleted. Is there any plan to put these videos on the Youtube account?
