Sacramento Spring Middle School Tournament (Feb 2)

The Sacramento Winter Middle School Tournament is taking place on Saturday, February 2 at Sylvan Middle School in Citrus Heights. This competition features separate JV and Varsity divisions.

Location: Sylvan Middle School is located at 7085 Auburn Blvd. in Citrus Heights. Registration will begin at 9:00AM and we plan to start round 1 at 9:30AM.

Questions: We will be using NAQT Middle School Series #29. (For practice material similar to the questions we will use at the tournament, please consider the NAQT New Middle School Package).

The top 15% of teams will qualify for the 2019 NAQT Middle School National Championship Tournament, to be held in Chicago in May, 2019.

Eligibility: All middle schools (public, private, charter, religious, homeschool, etc.) are eligible to play in this event. This tournament is open to any players who have not yet completed 8th grade, though the questions are targeted at 7th and 8th graders.

Schools are encouraged to enter multiple teams, but please note that players must play for the same team throughout the tournament.

Bay Area schools can register beginning on Tuesday, January 22. The questions used at this tournament will also be used in the Bay Area (most likely on Feb 16.


Base fee: $60 per team

-$10 per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)

-$20 per staffer (We will hold a brief training session during check-in for those volunteers who have never kept score before.)

This tournament is free for middle schools that have never played quiz bowl before.

Minimum entry fee: $0

Payment (cash or check) will be taken at check-in on February 2.
