TJHSST would also like to tentatively reserve some dates, I made this to choose our dates so I guess I can also run the DC-area date list this year. Reply to this thread or email me at [email protected] and I will add your tournament here.

Assume all tournaments early in the year are online (Discord/Zoom) unless otherwise specified. Some tournaments may have location restrictions even if they are hosted online, so check the specific post for more information.

I archived the 2019-20 date claim and made this one sticky.

I don't think forum admins have the power to adjust the order of posts within a thread (but would welcome a correction from the other forum staff if we do!)

Cave Spring High School would like to tentatively schedule November 21st for our CSI and February 20th for our NCIS tournaments. It'll be the first time for these tournaments in our new school (hopefully). We are probably going to use NAQT sets for both tournaments this year. We will hold our Roanoke Classic in March or April when we get some information back from our usual participants. I'll reserve that date later when I get more information on that.

TJ and CS have traditionally run tournaments on the same day, and considering that TJ is over 4 hours away from CS this has not been an issue historically, so there's no need to worry about this, Samir.

I would like to tentatively claim January 16 for my mirror of ERIS. This is to be hosted independent of my affiliation, given the ongoing pandemic. This tournament will also be hosted online given the state of the world unless things change in the next few months.

I will, however, be restricting the mirror to teams in Virginia and teams in NC, TN or WV within a 3 hour drive, per Google maps, of Salem, Virginia, unless they specifically appeal to me. Virginia teams are not held to the 3 hour drive rule.

Be aware that March 13, 2021 is the new date of the VHSL State Scholastic Bowl Tournament. The State tournament is no longer at Jamestown HS and will be held on-line. The level 2 (Regional OR Super Regional) deadline is now Feb. 27, 2021 and the Level 1 (Sectonals/Regular Season OR Regionals) deadline is now Feb. 13, 2021.

Thanks for the information, Matt - is there any place that this information is publicly available? On the VHSL website there's a document that was updated on 12/9 that still has the original dates with the state championship on 2/27.

If the VHSL state tournament is on 3/13, we will consider other dates for UVA's spring tournament. In addition, since it's not clear that an SCT set is going to be available this spring, we will choose another question set for our tournament if necessary.

Cave Spring High School would like move their NCIS date to March 6 to keep with its tradition of hosting the tournament the weekend before VHSL States. We also don't want to step on any of the regional/super regional tournaments that will probably scheduled for the February date, including ours possibly.

I contacted Sharon Condoulis from the VHSL. Apparently, the changes presented in the webinar that I attended were proposed changes and have yet to be approved by the Executive Committee of the VHSL. I can only say that the changes are likely to become official soon. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused. When I hear if the changes are made official, I will post here.

VHSL added a document on their website this afternoon listing these dates:

First Level Deadline - February 13
Next Level Deadline - February 27
VHSL Championships - March 13

In light of this, UVA's Virginia Spring Tournament will be held on 2/27. While there may be conflicts with some VHSL region or super-region tournaments, 2/27 or 3/13 are the only days available for us to host a high school tournament until late April. Virginia public schools should prioritize VHSL events over attending our tournament.

Because there is no SCT set being produced this year, our tournament will use the SATURNALIA question set. The tournament announcement can be found at viewtopic.php?p=382720#p382720. This tournament is open to schools from Maryland, DC, Virginia, and West Virginia.
