NAQT plans to produce the following numbers of sets for the 2012-13 season:
5 regular Invitational Series
5 Introductory Invitational Series ("A-sets")
3 Middle School Series
Changes from 2011-12:
-We reduced the number of regular sets by one; the sixth set was not being used at enough tournaments to justify the effort put into writing and editing it. If there is increased demand for tournament hosting, we may very well restore the sixth set for 2013-14 and beyond.
-We added a third middle school set to meet the rapidly expanding demand from middle school tournament hosts.

Re: NAQT set production for 2012-13
It seems, from the preponderance of state championships using IS-126, that the number of regular Invitational Series sets was bumped back up to 6 for this year. Seems like a largely self-explanatory decision, but I was wondering if NAQT had a message about that in case a circuit only planned for five IS-sets being available or something.

This isn't quite right; there are only five regular sets this year:RyuAqua wrote:It seems, from the preponderance of state championships using IS-126, that the number of regular Invitational Series sets was bumped back up to 6 for this year.
118
120
122
124
126
where the last one, as usual, is primarily intended for state championship use.

Re: NAQT set production for 2012-13
My counting skills leave a lot to be desired - for some reason I thought this year started with 116 or something. Embarrassing. At any rate, I'm interested to see how this goes and how people feel about it at the end of the year.

Reducing the total number of sets from 11 to 10 means that the numbering is more straightforward. Last year, IS sets switched from odd to even numbers at the end of the year (because 115 and 116 were both regular IS sets). I suspect that is part of the reason why you are confused.

Which IS and A sets have questions being used in the Missouri district/state sets?

Guide to Missouri set sharing:
The following sets share questions with NAQT's MSHSAA-format sets:
117A
119A
123A
126
(The regular IS questions from IS #124 are shared with MSHSAA States; our Missouri conference sets, MSHSAA Districts, and MSHSAA Sectionals use the easier questions from the three introductory sets.)
The following sets do not share questions with NAQT's MSHSAA-format sets (major Missouri tournaments using these sets are noted):
118 (Mizzou Fall)
120 (Hallsville and Smithville)
121A (MOQBA Winter Invitationals)
122 (North Kansas City, Rock Bridge, and Washington)
124 (NAQT Missouri qualifier)
125A (Missouri S&T and Savannah)
Edit: accidentally flipped 124 and 126 in the previous version of this list; the above is now correct --JTH
