NAQT Collegiate Novice at Toronto (09/21/2019)

Post by cwasims » Sun Sep 01, 2019 4:11 pm

The University of Toronto Academic Trivia Club will be hosting a mirror of NAQT's Collegiate Novice set (CNS-186) on September 21, 2019.

Logistics
The tournament will begin at 10:00am in room 2105 in Sidney Smith Hall, 100 St. George St, Toronto. I would ask all staff and people bringing buzzers to be there by 9:30 and all players to be there by 9:40.

Fees and Registration
The fee for this tournament will be $20 (CAD) per player, with the following discounts:
-$5/team for each functional buzzer
-$5/team for each functional moderator
-$5/player if the player's school did not attend any tournaments in the 2018-19 school year
Minimum fee: $15/player

Eligibility
This tournament will have strict eligibility requirements as it is intended for novices currently enrolled in post-secondary institutions.

Any player who has never played Quiz Bowl before (History Bowl and Reach for the Top do not count) is automatically eligible.

If a player has played Quiz Bowl before, they are eligible so long as:
1. They have not scored more than PP20TUH of over 20 at a collegiate tournament (not including collegiate novice).
2. They have not received a PP20TUH of over 40 on an IS-A set or over 30 on an IS set (including collegiate novice).
3. They have played QB at a post-secondary institution for at most one academic year.
If you are not eligible per these restrictions but believe would still like to play Collegiate Novice, please email me at cwasims@gmail.com and I will consider making an exception.

Registration and Payment
Please email cwasims@gmail.com to register for this tournament. Payment will be by e-transfer or cash on the day of the tournament.

Rules
This tournament will use 22/22 length packets and will follow NAQT rules.
