2019 EFT @ WUSTL Mirror (10/05/19)

Post by rohantherai »

The Washington University Quiz Bowl team is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a mirror of the 2019 Early Fall Tournament on October 5th, 2019. The set will be regular-minus difficulty and geared toward collegiate players of all skill levels, as well as experienced high schoolers. I - Rohan Rai - will direct the tournament alongside Vishal Puppala this year.

Registration

To register, please e-mail [email protected] with the following information:

1/ How many teams you will bring.
2/ How many buzzers you will bring.
3/ How many players you will have - and their names.
4/ How many moderators and scorekeepers you will bring.
5/ A phone number we can contact you at.

Fee Structure

The base fee for the tournament will be $120, with discounts as follows:

Buzzers: -$5 per set of functional buzzers
Moderator: -$15 per moderator (please bring a laptop, as scorekeeping and packets will both be online)
Scorekeeper: -$10 per scorekeeper (please bring a laptop, as scorekeeping and packets will both be online)
Travel: -$10 per 200 miles one way
Minimum fee: $40 per team

Please make checks out to "Washington University Quiz Bowl". We can also take cash but prefer checks.

Place

The tournament location on campus is TBD as of now. We recommend, however, that you plan to park in Simon Lot next to Simon Hall and the Danforth University Center, the Danforth University Center Garage, or Snow Way Garage.

Contact

Contact me by e-mail ([email protected]) if you will be late. I will send out a tournament information email with Vishal's phone number before the tournament so you can contact us immediately if necessary..

We will end the tournament around 6-7 PM, depending on how many rounds we play (which depends on how many teams sign up). We expect to guarantee all teams at least around 10 rounds.

Eligibility

All teams are welcome, including high school teams. The only teams not allowed are open and hybrid teams.

We are tentatively capping the field at twelve teams but may expand the field if we have enough staffers.

We hope to see you all there!

Due to an increase in the number of teams interested in playing, we are raising the field cap to 16 teams. If more teams are interested in playing, and we can get enough staffers to accommodate the additional teams, we will increase the field cap further. Right now, if you want to sign up your school or bring an extra team and see that the field is full, e-mail us anyway. We will put you on a waitlist and let you know as soon as possible if we can get your team into the field.

Here is the updated field (15/16):

Washington University of St. Louis [3 teams, 3 buzzers, many staffers]
University of Chicago [3 teams, no buzzers or staffers]
Indiana University [1 team, no buzzers or staffers]
Schindler Academy [1 team, no buzzers or staffers]
Lake Land College [1 teams, 1 staffer]
University of Missouri-Columbia [2 teams, 1 buzzer]
University of Iowa [3 teams, 1 buzzer]
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville [1 team, 1 buzzer]

More details will be included in the e-mail.
