ACF Regionals playtesting

I'm going to use this thread to organize playtesting sessions for ACF Regionals. The first such session will be this Saturday, January 5, at 9:00 PM Eastern, when I'll be playtesting a bunch of lit.

I'll post a reminder later this week, but if you'd like to join and you're no longer in school, please join the #quizbowl channel in the IRC. I'll email people instructions on how to join the protected playtesting channel.

Thanks!

Your day is so long ago that at your last birthday party, the fire marshal wouldn't let you put the right number of candles on the cake!

(I'll stop now.)

I'm interested in playtesting - will we get the email the night of or sooner?

Tomorrow just before playtesting starts, I'll send the details to any playtesters who show up in the main channel (#quizbowl).

I'm wrapping up the classical music, so I'd like to organize a playtesting session for this for some weeknight, either this week or next. If you're interested in helping out, please leave your name in this spreadsheet (so I can get a better idea of how many people to accommodate): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0

I've created a Doodle poll to help schedule my playtesting session. If you're interested, please fill this out! I've made 1.5 hour timeslots for now, although I hope we can finish playing and discussing each question much quicker than that.

It looks like everyone who's voted in the poll so far is available 6 - 7:30pm PST. (Just want to emphasize that the poll is in PST, so if that changes your answers, please do so soon!) Otherwise, we'll aim for 6 pm PST. I'll be going over all of the Music as well as a handful of Other Auditory Arts (mostly jazz and opera) Thanks!

I've made a Discord server for this evening's Music/Other Auditory playtesting session. PM me for the link!

I'll be running another playtesting session for the remainder of my questions on Saturday (1/12) at 11 AM PST. If you weren't able to make the last one but are interested in participating, PM me for the link to the Discord server.

I'm going to playtest physics and other science this weekend or early next week. I'll probably hold the sessions one after the other, but I'm open to having them at separate times depending on interest. I've made two doodle polls to select times: physics, other science.

You certainly don't need to go out of your way to accommodate me--I have pretty limited availability, mostly at times that probably don't work for many other people--but I'd be happy to help playtest physics and other science if there's a session I can make. I'm free most nights from about 9 to 11 pm, but the best times for me would actually be during normal work hours (say, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm on weekdays). I can take a quizbowl break from work!

In addition to the times I marked on the poll, I can also do any time after 7 pm central on the weekdays or after 8 pm central on Sunday. I can help with other science as well, but I know much more about physics.

I'm going to schedule a playtesting session for Sunday (1/13) at 9:00 pm (8:00 central), hopefully allowing all three interested players to participate. This session will be mostly focussed on physics, but we'll do some other science as time allows. I'll send instructions for this session on Sunday (if you would prefer IRC over Discord message/email me about it). If anyone else want to participate in Sunday's session, let me know.

We may have another session for other science specifically, so message me if you're interested and have time preferences.

It seems as though Discord is having connectivity issues. I don't really know how to use IRC but I'll attempt to migrate our music playtesting session over to that ASAP. Stay tuned for updates!

UPDATE: Using Slack instead, PM me!

The remainder of the lit questions are written, so I'll be running a relatively short session to playtest the rest of them; I'm planning on this Wednesday at 9:00 PM Eastern, if enough people are available.

I'm planning to playtest the bio tonight after the lit - starting most likely around 10:00 (both of them in the IRC, as before).

I'm going to playtest the other science this weekend or next Monday. I'll be reaching out to everyone who's expressed interest to decide the time, but feel free to message me if you haven't expressed interest already.

I'm hoping to playtest painting, philosophy, and social science on Monday and/or Wednesday evening this coming week, probably in the IRC. If you're interested, fill out this Doodle poll: https://doodle.com/poll/xmewy3iisrqqgwq2—indicate in the name box if you're only interested in one or two of the categories. Thanks!

I'm going to try to playtest math and earth science tonight starting at 9:00 pm eastern. Message me if you're interested; I'd be happy to have more participants even if they're not experts.

It looks like tonight is the better option—I'm going to start playtesting social science at 7 in an IRC room, then probably do painting and philosophy in that order. Will send an email a little before then with the password to people who filled out the poll—email me if you haven't and would still like to playtest.
