What is the question format?

Will the playoff questions be from the same writers?

How many rounds will be played?

Any information on lunch?

As usual, the questions will be in toss-up + 2-part bonus format. 16 per round. We will have our usual proportion of Social Studies, Math, Science, and Literature questions.

All questions (including those in playoff rounds) will be written by current and former Walton players.

At this point (unless the numbers of teams drastically changes up or down from the last few years), there will be five preliminary rounds and then the top 32 teams will be seeded for a single-elimination playoff.

Lunch is still in the works, but we usually offer sub sandwiches and sometimes Chic-Fil-A.

Could someone from Walton please put a list of teams that have signed up so far?

Could someone from Walton clarify whether the set will be housewritten or NAQT IS-78A, as NAQT's website says?

Hi Everybody,

Sorry about the confusion!!! Due to a variety of circumstances, we had to go with NAQT questions this year. NAQT is still trying to arrange a set for us to use that does not conflict with other tournaments (i.e. 78A is what it says on their website, but they are trying hard to get another set for us to use due to conflicts with other tournaments using that same set).

Please stay "tuned." As soon as NAQT tells me what set we are using that is NOT 78A, we will let you know what is going on.

If you have any further questions, please e-mail me.

Thanks,

Hi Again,

I just received word from NAQT that we will be using set 80A (NOT 78A as is posted on their website). This will be an unofficial NAQT tournament so that we can use our own timing rules and usual questions per round while maintaining our status as a qualifying event for NAQT nationals.

That being said, we usually balance out our own written questions with a formula. Since we were unable to write our own questions this year, that means that we will obviously go with the NAQT questions that we get in whatever distribution they come.

Hi Everybody,

Here is an update on the field:

Alpharetta HS
Bleckley County HS
Blessed Trinity HS (2 Teams)
Brookstone HS
Brookwood HS (4 Teams)
Campbell HS (2 Teams)
Cedar Shoals HS (3 Teams)
Central Gwinnett HS (2 Teams)
Chattahoochee HS (5 Teams)
Cherokee HS (2 Teams)
Dorman HS (4 Teams)
Dunwoody HS
Etowah HS (2 Teams)
Hebron Christian Academy (2 Teams)
James Island HS
Jonesboro HS
Lakeside HS (2 Teams)
Lassiter HS
Lithia Springs HS
North Cobb HS
North Gwinnett HS
Northview HS (2 Teams)
Ola HS (2 Teams)
Providence Christian Academy (2 Teams)
Roswell HS (2 Teams)
South Paulding HS (2 Teams)
Westminster (2 Teams)
Wheeler HS (2 Teams)

In addition, Ezell Harding might be coming with one team.

According to my calculations, that means that we have 9 divisions of 6 teams each, plus (maybe) one additional team. I am going to cap the registration at 10 divisions (i.e. 60 teams). So, I will take up to 5 additional teams (or 6 if Ezell Harding decides not to come).

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me!

Thanks,

Hoover HS would be interested in bringing a team if an opening popped up. We can also provide three buzzer sets (well, two plus a Judge) and (possibly) a reader.

There has been one correction from my last posting...

Dunbar (who was first on the wait list) is now in the field. Brookwood will have 4 teams instead of 5.

Now the wait list looks like this:

1. Hoover
2. Berkmar A
3. Berkmar B

Matt-

Please remove us from the waiting list. We will be unable to attend this event; too many members of our team will be unavailable for play.

Semi-Finalists: Dorman A and James Island

Thanks to all the teams that came. In spite of the usual delays and other issues, we hope that you enjoyed yourselves and come again next year.

Brookwood did. It was by a 10 point margin, which is also what Chattahoochee beat us by. Which is also what Brookwood beat Chattahoochee by.

I can corroborate this. What a tournament! When is the last time the final 3 games of a tournament all came down to ten points each? Congratulations to Brookwood on their tournament win and to Dorman and James Island for such awesome Semifinal games! I wish I could have been there, but the Dawgs' victory against the Vols in Athens was oh so sweet - I couldn't have missed that!
