Fleming County Academic Tournament 1/16/10

Post by FCPanther »

Fleming County Academic Tournament is tentatively set for January 16th 2010. The tournament will consist of morning pool play rounds that will be used to seed the afternoon elimination rounds. We will play Governor's Cup format. This is a great opportunity for one last tuneup heading into district competition.

It will once again be held at Fleming County High School in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. Entry fee is $60 for the first team and $30 for any additional squads.

We will have a varisty division and "B" team division.

Scott,

Glad to hear it. I've sent out early invitation (save the date kind of stuff) to those that attended last year, and to some folks that I thought might be interested this year. Grayson Co. is definitely on that list.

The tournament will be KAAC Governor's Cup format. Everyone will be guaranteed four games (three pool play matches and at least one single elimination match). It seems that with primarily Kentucky teams at that time of year it's a good way to transition into district and regional play.

As for a source, that has yet to be finalized. I hope to find someone that provides questions that are a bit more challenging than some of what we've had the last couple of years without losing the quick recall pacing. I'm also trying to keep our prices as reasonable as possible, so that's another issue to consider.

I'm really not trying to be evasive, but the source isn't nailed down yet. When I've got something more definite I'll update.

thanks,

We can take the tentative off of the FCAT announcement. The 2010 FCAT will be January 16th at Fleming County High School in Flemingsburg, KY.

We will play Kentucky's quick recall format with morning pool play rounds giving way to a single elimination seeded tournament in the afternoon.

Costs will be $60 for the first team and $30 for additional teams from the same school. We will have varsity and "B" team divisions.

any questions may be directed to me at [email protected]

A brief field update:

Division A (varsity)
Fleming Co.
Bishop Brossart
Adair Co.
Campbell Co.
Johnson Central (2)
Simon Kenton
Mason Co.
Paintsville
Grayson Co. ()

"B" team divsion (not necessarily just JV)
Fleming Co.
Bishop Brossart
Campbell Co. (2)
Johnson Central
Simon Kenton
Mason Co.
Paintsville

I am also still waiting for confirmation from several other teams and hope to further update the field again soon.

For anyone looking for that one last quick recall tournament to tune up for Governor's Cup give the FCAT some consideration, we usually have a very competitive field.

We are having a hard time finding a coach who will be able to take us this day.
We are definitely still interested in going though.
I really hope we can make it; I would like to get another "shot" at Johnson before state.

Also, I would like to clarify, the coach was not forcibly removed. (I should have worded that better.)
She was not showing up to our practices and tournaments, so our other coaches and her came to a consensus that she was going to resign.

Edited: due to change in situation.

Johnson Central-A emerged as the champion of the 12th annual Fleming County Academic Tournament. They defeated Pikeville-A in the finals of the tournament. More details as I get through the scoresheets. All in all it was successful day with a VERY strong field of teams, many of which will be making the trip to Louisville in March.
