I find it curious that people would rank MW higher than GDS...

Want to expand on that, Graham? I thought both teams were very talented and fairly comparable, so it didn't really strike me as an odd choice (even if I, too, think GDS is better).

Well maybe this was just me, but watching the PACE 3rd-4th game, it was obvious that MW knew stuff, but it was also pretty clear the GDS knew just as much, and was a hell of a lot more aggressive. GDS won by a pretty solid margin as well

Haha really? Well I would move Hunter and GDS up then, and put MW behind them. Temporary insanity, I guess

Well, I would not call your actual ranking insane. But. if you changed your vote to match what you now believe, GDS would end up 4th and MW would be 5th. I see why you would want to put GDS over MW. GDS beat MW the last three times they met this year, including the 3rd place game at NSC and twice at HSNCT. As to where to rank Hunter, that's a bit tougher. MW did beat them at NSC, though for the year as a whole Hunter may have beat MW more; I am just not sure about this. Also, Hunter probably lost some votes due to the fact that they only attended NSC and were not tested at HSNCT. Anyway, all these head-to-head results are not the best way to rank people anyway. It is better to look at overall records and stats.

I did not vote in the poll, because I was not sure how I would rank teams 2 through 7 relative to each other. I agree that the poll probably has the right teams in the top seven, whatever the order. I do believe you have to put Charter first, since they won both national championships, and they were consistently excellent throughout the year. But. I believe, even they would admit that they were a bit lucky in both national finals. On the other hand, the ability to win the close games, and to win the big games, is not all luck. Such an ability is the mark of an excellent team.

This was the strongest and most competitive field of teams ever. Congratulations to all the top teams on an excellent year of quizbowl.
