Buzzers, advice, life

Post by Marcel Duchamp »

So it's been a couple of years y'all, but now I'm a teacher at a charter school in New Orleans (not one of the high performing ones) and I want to start a qb team. Does anyone know of where to get a buzzer for dirt cheap, or better yet have one they don't want? (wishful thinking, but why not ask). I could go on about how you will be doing great things for extremely underprivileged and at risk children in a region still recovering from one of the worst natural disasters in American history, but you know. Any help would be greatly appreciated, New Orleans is POOR!

You can see if the Matt's Buzzers charity program is still running--the website is http://www.mattsbuzzers.com/. It was set up in honor of a Quiz Bowl player who passed away and gives out buzzers to teams that need them.

Otherwise, if you get some sort of school budget, you might have to save all of it to buy a set, or ask for contributions from your players, or pay out of pocket.

Also, there's the possibility of hosting something which doesn't require buzzers (ex. a trivia night) to draw in some funds.

In any case, good luck, and welcome to the forums.

Charles is correct. Also, to see what vendor options are out there, go to this page or this page.

I tried to email you, but the email address from your profile is bouncing. If this is a legitimate request, email me huffej (AT) spart6.org. I might have a solution for you.

Well, his signature is the inscription of a famous piece of Dadaist art (by the artist his avatar is named after) and his interests include "your mom" and his home town is Walter Johnson, Maryland, so I'm starting to wonder about that myself.

I'm pretty sure those were back from his crazy days as a WJ player in MD.

I will confirm 100% that this is legitimate, and Zach Hommer is in fact Teaching for America in New Orleans. Eric, I've sent you a current email address. If there are any people with firsthand knowledge of the Louisiana (and surrounding) qb circuit, I'm sure that would be valuable info as well.

I will also note, for the historical record, that Zach was in fact the one continually mocking his crazy Walter Johnson contemporaries, rather than being banned on a semi-monthly basis along with them.

And or the fact that when he created this thread, he had more total posts than Charles.

Thank you for confirming that I am indeed real Chris. I will update my profile to reflect that I am no longer back at WJ when I get the chance. Also, thanks to Eric Huff, and I apologize for not having the right email on the profile.
