NAQT 2010 CC Sectional Sites?

Post by ValenciaQBowl »

I'm posting here in hopes that some NAQT person might see it and help expedite the announcement of the hosts of the CC SCTs. These are scheduled for January 22-23, but as far as I can tell, no sites have been officially announced. I've been getting a lot of e-mails from CC coaches in Florida who are not connected to this board and are getting concerned about timing of financial requests, especially with the winter break coming up.

Mods: my apologies if this is not the right venue for this.

Nah, it'll just have to come back when they actually announce them. Might as well leave it up for now!

Hey, so since we kept this thread alive, let's use it!

Since the original SCT announcement, NAQT has added a sectional at Valencia, as otherwise the Tallahassee CC SCT would've gotten to an unwieldy field size. That means we've got these:

Kansas (Cloud County CC)
Alabama (Jeff State)
North Florida (Tallahassee CC)
"South" Florida (Valencia CC)

I assume that some Georgia teams (like Dalton) will go to Jeff State (in Birmingham), while others (like South Georgia) will go to Tallahassee. Let's try to update fields here, as I'm certain that the sponsors at Cloud County and Tallahassee don't check this board (not sure about Jeff State).

Does this mean we can expect the field size at CCCT to be lesser than last year? Seems like that's like half as many sectionals as there were.

EDIT: Chris, Casey or myself (or both!) will try to keep you updated with the type of field we're looking at.

That sectionals list isn't final (for instance, we're working on a Mississippi site, and there's some chance of a Georgia one.) I believe the CCCT will be the same size as it was last year.

Since I'm not bothering to formally announce the Valencia CC SCT in the Announcements section (literally none of the coaches/players attending read this board), I'll just use this post for field updates, mostly for the edification of Mark, Dallin, Ethan, and Stan.

Updated Jan. 19

Valencia (3)
Lake Sumter (2)
Broward
Central Florida CC (2)
Indian River
Pasco-Hernando (2)
South Florida CC
North Florida (2)
State College of FL (Manatee) (1-2)
St. Pete College
Lake Sumter CC (2)
South Georgia College

This isn't a definite list by far, but seeing as how I haven't heard any updates, which may be partially be due to us not starting back yet, but based on last year's sectional and attendance at ACBL events thus far here is what I'll forecast:

Snead (1)
Northeast (1-2)
Jeff State (1 maybe 2 depending on staffing)
Bevill-Jasper (1-2)
Faulkner (1-2)
Bevill-Fayette (1?)

I'm sure there will be others possibly from Mississippi and maybe Georgia if a CC Sectionals site for those doesn't happen, but the teams above are the "usual suspects" at ACBL events.

Some short results for the Valencia SCT:

Valencia Black beat Valencia Red in the final to win. Seminole, Broward, Lake Sumter, and Central Florida followed.

Also, I hear that, unsurprisingly, Chipola A and B went 1-2 at the Tallahassee CC.

To add to the unbelievable sectional results, Northeast and Snead finished 1 and 2, respectively, at the Alabama Sectional.

In the Tallahassee Sectional the results were:
1. Chipola A
2. Chipola B
3. Pensacola JC

The stats can be found here: http://results.scobo.net/SQBS.aspx?org= ... =standings

Chris or Mark: If you can send me your stats file, I will upload it for you and post it here.

Mr. Young I'll talk to Lucy at Jeff State to see if she can't send it along.

Mr. Young or Chris, have either of you heard of any of the Georgia teams like GPC attending a Sectional? I thought they would either come to ours or one of the Florida ones since there wasn't one in Georgia. I know GPC has Robert Slade for his last year and when I talked to them he said they planned on attending a sectional.

GPC is attending the four-year sectional at North Georgia, which is much closer to them than any of the CC sectional sites.

So they're not playing CCCT?

Hmmm, it would appear not. That sucks, I always like playing against Slade. Maybe we'll see them at ICT assuming we all make it.

Here are stats from Alabama's sectional, I know they're all on the website but I figured I'd post the url here to be grouped with the others.
