ACF Regionals at Clemson (2/20/10)

Post by Nick »

Clemson University is pleased to announce that it will host the Academic Competition Federation Regionals tournament for the Southeast region on February 20, 2010. We look forward to providing the region with another excellent event.

Location
This tournament is expected to take place in the Daniel Hall, where we normally host stuff. Further details will be released as soon as they become available. A map of the Clemson campus is available at our website.

Questions
This is a packet submission tournament of regular difficulty. Teams attending this tournament are required to submit a packet - unless exempt under ACF guidelines - so plan your time accordingly to maximize your discounts and allow for a higher quality tournament. The head editor of this tournament is Jerry Vinokurov, assisted by Trygve Meade, Chris Ray, Dwight Wynne, and Ted Gioia. Participating teams are encouraged to refer to previous editions of ACF Regionals for difficulty, which can be found on Christian Carter's packet archive.

Packet Submission Information
Teams are strongly encouraged to consult the ACF Packet Guidelines for information about what you should include in your packets and what rules to follow. The deadlines are:

December 27, 2009: -$50
January 10, 2010: -$25 (-$50 for optional packets)
January 24, 2010: No penalty (-$25 for optional packets)
January 31, 2010: +$25
February 14, 2010: +$50

Packets should be sent to [email protected] with the subject line "Packet: Team," e.g. "Packet: Maryland A."

Eligibility
This tournament is open to all university or high school teams. Teams must be composed of players all from one school, as per ACF rules.

Pricing
$120: Base fee
-$50: Packet submitted by Sunday, December 27th, 2010
-$25: Packet submitted by Sunday, January 10th, 2010

Hey, you know what would be awesome is if a) there were a field update indicating who is coming to this tournament, and b) we could get some packets from this region.

Its looking like this is going to be a quadruple round-robin between USC A, USC B, Southside, and a House team (which will be Clemson's regular line-up). Meet in Daniel Hall Auditorium between 8:30 and 8:45. Games start at 9.

So UNC dropped and we have no confirmation from UGA?

With regard to finals, USC A played our team in an advantaged final. USC won the first game, winning the tournament.

With regards to the stats, USC B actually went 2-6 instead of 1-7.

We defeated Duke in round 4 as well. The scores are reversed, with us having 195 and Duke having 135.

I enjoyed reading at this site. Thanks to Clemson for hosting, and a special thanks to Coach Huff for TDing. All of the teams were quite competitive. Although I didn't play, the set seemed enjoyable, and I hope more teams in the Southeast in the future will take part in ACF Regionals, as it is usually a very good tournament. Considering the very good turnout for ACF Fall and Winter at the Southeast sites, it seems odd that Regionals is consistently under-attended.

Phong is indeed correct on the stat thing.
