Interest check: hosting a tournament at UC-Berkeley
Berkeley Quiz Bowl is considering hosting a high school tournament later this spring using one of the several NAQT IS sets that haven't yet been used in northern California. The likeliest date for this event is April 3rd (we don't want to conflict with Dwight's event on 3/27, or the state championship tentatively 4/17. Plus we'll get more moderators if this isn't ICT weekend.) So: would April 3rd work for teams, or should we consider changing the date?

We've talked about this for a few meetings but haven't sorted anything official out. Now that we have a date, though, this should be easier. Plus, there's no debate conflict this week. Put us down as "very interested". More info to come.

Yes, I know. We'll do that after we confirm that we can reserve rooms.

True that. Harker (one of the top teams in the area) had no plans to play Quiz Bowl for the rest of the season because their only way of finding tournaments was checking naqt.com.laserphaser wrote:btw, good idea to email out as most of the bay area circuit has never heard of this site.

So, this is going to be postponed because we probably can't get rooms for this coming Saturday.
We're going to try April 17th next; anyone object to that date?

Well, the state tournament for Speech and Debate will be that entire weekend. This will leave us at least half a team short, if not more, and I imagine it could have similar effects on other teams.

4/17 is fine for MSJ, but if that's inconvenient for other schools, any other date is acceptable as well.

We can't get rooms for the 17th either.
We'll try for May 8th next.
