Surya, I would be interested as signing up as a free agent if there is still space in one of your teams. I can also help staffIf you or others are interested in signing up as free agents, I know we have 1-2 spots open on Michigan teams.
Thanks

Hey, I think we should be able to get a whole packet together by next Friday. Thanks!kdroge wrote: People at UTS, while I don't need your packet immediately, I'd like to get a scope of approximately how much you guys can write- do you think you'll be able to get an enitre packet done, or a half packet? Please let me know ASAP. In order to have time to edit, I'm going to put a tentative deadline for packet submission ay next friday at midnight.
The past two ACF Falls are in many respects more accessible than the past two PACE NSCs.JaceTheMindSculptor wrote:OK so how much harder is ACF Fall compared to, say, the PACE NSC 2010? (i chose the NSC because the questions are available online and the HSNCT ones aren't)

Well driving prospects for Lisgar recently went up, so we'll hopefully be able to field a full team. Centennial is closer to UGuelph and can probably get some people. I dont't know about St. Catherine's, but Woburn is trying to get a team, so from this mélange, they'll probably be enough for 2 extra teams (i.e. minimum 6 players). Also, due to the collaborative nature of Lisgar's packet, splitting us up would be detrimental to question security.kdroge wrote: If this happens, one of the additional teams will be a combination of Lisgar and Centennial, and the other will be from St. Catharine's- both of whom have expressed interest to me in attending. Patrick, from Lisgar, do you have a problem with this? Also, can you contribute a packet by next weekend? I'm waiting for confirmation from St. Catherines, and if they drop, then I'm going to stick with 9 teams, because I want to either run this with 9 or 11, and not 10.
This is key. Even though editing is going reasonably well at this point, we need their packet badly (Their packet + UTS packet + Lisgar packet and you guys will have 9 + 2 finals packets to play ... still have no idea how this is going to work. Ben?)bsmith wrote:I'll mention it to the club in our Wednesday meeting, but if the Brendan/Yohan team is still only 2 people, I think we can absorb it into our other Ottawa teams and just make sure that they are subbed out for the round their packet is read.
UTS actually has 5 people who can come, so one of us could join another team if that helps with the problem.kdroge wrote: There still should be enough people to field two teams between Centennial, Woburn, and Lisgar, keeping Brendan and Yohan on their own team so that there would be eleven teams to play with. If Centennial, Woburn, and Lisgar are a sure deal, and I actually get a packet by Lisgar and the half packet from out East, this should work.
I can't make anyone do anything they don't want, but I know that some of my team would be interested in "experience playing with other teams." I guess that means they don't appreciate being on my team. We'll see.JaceTheMindSculptor wrote:@Patrick: If it turns out Woburn can only field 3 (or maybe even 2, cuz one might be forced to go to his cottage, not sure yet, though he has said that he wants to go to this tourney), can you spare us a person?
That means they don't want to be overshadowed by your mad skillz. You should take it as a compliment.Masked Canadian History Bandit wrote:I can't make anyone do anything they don't want, but I know that some of my team would be interested in "experience playing with other teams." Just checking in to let everyone know the science is also of approximately this difficulty. Although, in all categories, there is the very very occasional "pushing ACF Nationals level" tossup, this set is accessible to pretty much everyone at all levels.kdroge wrote:The difficulty is shaping up to be fall-winter level on bonuses and on most of the tossups, with a few harder tossups just to keep people honest. Finals is closer to regionals difficulty, again with more variance on tossup difficulty than on bonuses.

One way would be the greyhound, from Bay and Dundas, which gets to the Univ. of Guelph campus in an hour or so. There are buses at 7 am and 8:30 am. The cost should be around 20 bucks (return), thanks to Greyhound Canada's student discount:JaceTheMindSculptor wrote:anyone know how to get to guelph by public transport from toronto?
There had better not be anyone taking this - we're starting at 9.maxis7 wrote:There are buses at ... 8:30 am.
I can't speak for anyone else on my team, but I would be interested in getting in on this. Are you able to accommodate individuals into your plan?bsmith wrote: Also, so far only the Ottawa and Michigan groups are interested in my earlier pizza offer about 10 posts up. Same here, so that's half our team, at least.adosreme wrote:I can't speak for anyone else on my team, but I would be interested in getting in on this. Oh hey, I opted in on this plan thru the Michy pool, so that's 75% of us.women, fire and dangerous things wrote:Same here, so that's half our team, at least.adosreme wrote:I can't speak for anyone else on my team, but I would be interested in getting in on this.
