The spreadsheet containing teams (http://spreadsheets0.google.com/ccc?key ... l=en#gid=0) should be up to date, at least for this site.

Entry fees for all three sites will be as follows (per tournament):
Base fee: $100/team. Shorthanded teams (1 or 2 players) may play for $25/person.
Buzzer discount: $5/set
Staffing discount: $10/staffer. You may receive a discount on Saturday for staffing on Sunday, and vice versa.
Distance discount: $10 for traveling more than 200 miles.

If people are hard up for cash, I believe Mike Cheyne can hook you up with some sweet hotel deals. I may be able to put a few people up at my apartment if absolutely necessary.

My family grossly missrepresented the discount I received, but I do have a nice room at a 3-star hotel near Novi for Friday/Saturday nights and if anyone wants to share it (can take probably 2-3 other people, some might be on floor or sleeping bag), it would be 30 dollars a person. E-mail me if interested.

So everyone on the planet minus Neil Gurram? But in all seriousness, thank you for the link.

Also, I talked with my former high school coach, Mr. Jones, to confirm the room reservations; we will have more than enough rooms and should have them until the later evening, allowing for side events and other quiz bowl shenanigans.

Hey Bryan, as of right now we're pretty much just showing up with whatever we got. Do you want me to figure out specifics for exactly how many teams and such?

Hey, I'm trying to finalize my travel plans for the tournament. It would really help me to know a couple things. What side events are going to be running and when? (I'm assuming the remainder of Ike's lit is going to be Saturday night...are there any other side events planned?) What is the expected end time for Sunday?

Looks like me and John Bernabei are the only DCDS people going, and we're coming on Sunday. As said somewhere above, there's a good chance of Neil coming to moderate/score keep, but not 100% at this point.
It's not as much of a problem for me as it is for others, but I'd also like to know the expected end time for Sunday and whether there will be any side events besides finishing up CO Lit.

Bryan's technically in charge of this, but is out of town until early next week, so I'll fill in what I can.

We could very much use staffers for both days (Sunday, especially). DCC people, it'd be extremely helpful if you could confirm exactly who's going to be staffing each day. Please email [email protected] with this information.

I guess I'll go ahead and say that the only side event will be the rest of CO Lit; that should be running Saturday night. I'd guess Sunday's tournament should be completely wrapped up by 7 PM. I'm sorry I don't have a more definite answer, but I don't actually know how long we're allowed to use the rooms either day.

Hello all,

Here are the fields:

VCU Open (August 7)
1) Matt Lafer, Ryan Westbrook, Pat Freeburn, Mike Cheyne
2) Dan Donohue, Kevin Malis, Anant Shah, Unknown Northwestern player (please email me your identity!)
3) Rob Carson, Andrew Hart, Carsten Gehring, Trevor Davis
4) Gautam Kandlikar, Gaurav Kandlikar
5) Jacob Durst, Peter Komarek, Richard Edwards
6) Jordan Palmer, Jay Misuk, Britney Castleman, Alex Rochon
Free Agents: Bernadette Spencer, Nolan Esser

VCU Sunday (August 8)
1) Brandon Williams, Michael Czupryn, (TBD), (TBD)
2) Dan Donohue, Kevin Malis, Anant Shah, Unknown Northwestern player
3) Matt Lafer, Ryan Westbrook
4) Mike Cheyne, Rob Carson, Andrew Hart, (possibly Trevor Davis)
5) Gautam Kandlikar, Gaurav Kandlikar, Carsten Gehring, Bernadette Spencer
6) Nalin Lalwani, Jeffrey Winter, Mark Bogner, (TBD)
7) Jacob Durst, Jarret Greene, Richard Edwards
8) Jordan Palmer, Jay Misuk, Britney Castleman, Alex Rochon
9) Siddhant Dogra, John Bernabei
10) DCC House Team
Free Agents: None

We are closing the field on Tuesday, August 3 at 10:00 PM ET, so please email me about any discrepancies or additional teams before then. Additional house teams may be added in order to create efficient schedules.

Detroit Catholic Central High School can be found here: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1& ... CCUQnwIwAQ . Parking is located in front of the school and is free. Please report to room 124*, located on the first floor of the main academic hallway. Registration and set-up will start at 8:15; rounds will start promptly at 9:00. As soon as the teams are solidified, a detailed tournament summary (round robin, playoffs, etc.) will be given, as well an approximate ending time.

On Saturday, we have the building for as long as we want, so that is the night for side events. I think there is a consensus on running this year’s CO Lit. More details on that later.

I think that’s about it for now. Further questions should be sent to [email protected]

Bryan Berend

*It’s been a while since I’ve actually been inside the building, so this room number may not be correct. In any case, look for the room on the first floor with all the quiz bowlers in it.

So people are aware: Sunday will most likely be a full round robin, followed by an advantaged final if need be. Ideally, we'll be able to get up to 8 teams on Saturday; in that case, we'd do a full RR, then split into 2 playoff brackets, to give everyone 10 rounds plus the final.

I fear quads may be unnecessary considering the field size for lit, but anyway:

I will play lit. I don't really care with whom--I answer questions on literature written in English because this America and that's what I speak. I will occasionally make really dumb negs. I have sensational Charlie Rosenthal stopping skills, which probably has some equivalent to, like, I dunno, Jacob Durst.

Good morning,

This should be the final update for the Michigan location (hopefully):

VCU Open (Saturday, August 7th)
1) Matt Lafer, Ryan Westbrook, Pat Freeburn, Mike Cheyne
2) Dan Donohue, Kevin Malis, Ike Jose, Bernadette Spencer
3) Rob Carson, Andrew Hart, Carsten Gehring, Trevor Davis
4) Gautam Kandlikar, Gaurav Kandlikar, Joe Czupryn, Scot Putzig
5) Jacob Durst, Peter Komarek, Richard Edwards, Nolan Esser
6) Jordan Palmer, Jay Misuk, Britney Castleman, Alex Rochon, (possibly Brendan McKendy)
Free agents: None

VCU Sunday (Sunday, August 8th)
1) Brandon Williams, Michael Czupryn, Joe Nutter, Joe Czupryn
2) Dan Donohue, Kevin Malis, (TBD), (TBD)
3) Matt Lafer, Ryan Westbrook, Ike Jose, (TBD)
4) Mike Cheyne, Rob Carson, Andrew Hart, (possibly Trevor Davis)
5) Gautam Kandlikar, Gaurav Kandlikar, Carsten Gehring, Bernadette Spencer
6) Jimmy Dunn, Jeffrey Winter, Mark Bogner, (TBD)
7) Jacob Durst, Jarret Greene, Richard Edwards, (TBD)
8) Jordan Palmer, Jay Misuk, Britney Castleman, Alex Rochon, (possibly Brendan McKendy)
9) Siddhant Dogra, John Bernabei, Bobby Dorrigo-Jones, Jimmy Halpert
10) DCC House Team
Free agents: Various DCC players

Some important side notes that may pertain to you:
1) Team Canada (Team 6), if you want to have your 5th person serve as a rotating moderator / scorekeeper in order to receive a $10 discount, please let me know. Brendan, are you playing both days or just Saturday?
2) As noted above, there should be a few DCC kids looking for spots on existing teams. Contact them individually if you are interested.

Saturday will be a double round robin followed by finals (if needed), coming out to a guaranteed 10 rounds for everyone. Sunday will be a full round robin followed by finals (if needed), which will then be followed by scrimmages. The reason for doing this is that my former coach Mr. Jones was not exact on the time we needed to be out of the school on Sunday. Both schedules are subject to change. Saturday will also see the running of CO Lit and possibly some packets by Mike Cheyne. Additional fees may apply.

If anyone gets lost trying to find DCC, please call me at TWO FOUR EIGHT – THREE ONE ZERO – ZERO SIX THREE FOUR. Contrary to popular belief, the school is not actually located in Detroit, nor has been since the 70s.

EDIT: Replaced Welch with Nutter and changed status of McKendy

We're absolutely not doing a 14 round double RR. We'll figure out a way to get up to 8 teams (5th players, I think we have at least a staffer or two extra, etc.) which puts things back at 10 rounds (single RR + split into 2 playoff brackets and do a second RR within each).

To set things straight,

There will be either be a 6 or 8 team field on Saturday. The 8 team field will result if any existing players decide they want to form a 7th team, in which case the DCC house team will serve as the 8th. Otherwise, the field is at 6, with no house team.

If there is an 8 team field, then there will be a single RR, then the top and bottom halves will RR, followed by a final game (if necessary), bring the total number of games to 10 or 11.
